Attachment to Mr. Cairn's Message Regarding
Termination for Convenience of the P3 Contract for the Midtown Tunnel/Downtown Tunnel/MLK Extension Project
Amelia Wood Chesapeake VA 23321 United States
I live in Norfolk and go back and forth on thru the tunnel almost everyday, to my job. If they put this in it will cost me
2/14/2012 more to drive to work then what I get paid. Please sign this petition and lets make this not happen for us.
Jerry Callender Virginia Beach VA 23455 United States
When the area's tunnels were built, the citizens of the Commonwealth had a promise from Richmond that we would
pay tolls to retire their debts with the understanding that when they were paid off we would have no further tolls.
We paid the tolls for the required number of years and paid for OUR tunnels. The Virginia executive branch does not
have the right to sanction and approve restoration of tolls on OUR tunnels. I miss the ferry service ‐ dunno why
2/14/2012 everyone is in such a rush to get nowhere.
Ann Williams Virginia Beach VA 23454‐9234 United States
A call to action for HR citizens! Speak up/shout out‐‐or lose your voice! Guess we'll have to pass on some lunches to
pay tolls without any added value for citizens...The pols have come up with another way to scoop more $$$ from our
rapidly‐shrinking pay checks‐‐how's about if they get in touch with the People for a change by taking a pay cut in
2012 and scrap the tolls...The extra $$$ the state will save can be used to repair pot‐holes and rough patches
2/14/2012 wreaking havoc on res around the region...
Walter Smead, Jr. Portsmouth VA 23704 United States
I am in opposition of tolls in Hampton Roads beacuse I feel that the amount of the toll on the tunnel(s) is excessive
and also the process to collect those tolls will be very costly and unsuccessful. This effort puts Portsmouth right in
2/14/2012 the middle of this nightmare.
Luis Medina Moyock NC 27958 United States 2/14/2012 Though I reside in NC, I spend most of my life working and driving in VA roads.
Sharon Hanson Portsmouth VA 23703 United States
This is grossly unfair. Downtown Portsmouth businesses have been closing at an alarming rate. If people are tolled
to come from Norfolk INTO Portsmouth, it is one less reason to shop here. And for those who actually HAVE jobs in
this difficult economy, going to and from work will cost them almost $4 per day??? And our visitors will receive a bill
2/14/2012 in the mail after their vacations? Why would they come back again? Outrageous!
Michele Muller Suffolk VA 23435 United States
Please raise the tax on fuel a few cents. That would raise sufficient revenue and not break the backs of the people
2/14/2012 trying to make ends meet.
I live in Portsmouth because it's affordable but I'm self employed throughout Hampton Roads. I use the tunnel every
James Mercaldo Portsmouth VA 23703 United States 2/14/2012 day; a toll would eat up the money my family needs for living expenses. Bad decision for this economy.
Richard Santoro Portsmouth VA 23707 United States 2/14/2012 These tolls will further isolate Portsmouth from Norfolk and Virginia Beach and discourage local investments.
Michelle Crawford Virginia Beach VA 23456 United States
I live in VA Beach & have rental property in Portsmouth. I already pay enough for gas to get there/back, gas for my
lawn mower & now I will have to pay to GO cut the grass too ? My husband & I like to go to the Commodore &
Baron's Pub whenever we have any extra spending $ & this toll will put stress on our already tight budget because
the rental loses money every month. NOT a good economic time to be asking the public to pay for a road project in
2/14/2012 my opinion.
james hancock coinjock NC 27923 United States
I own property in Portsmouth that will be worth less and harder to get tenants in when tolls go up. Thanks alot
2/14/2012 Governor!
I live 5 blocks away from the midtown tunnel, and adding a toll to something most of us taxpayers have to use on a
daily basis is a slap in the face. Nobody I've spoken to wants a second tube for the Midtown. Try listening to what the
people in your area feel are important. Spend more money on Schools and less on transportaon we don't need.
Ashley Drake norfolk VA 23517 United States 2/14/2012
Tanya Lee Chesapeake VA 23321 United States
I Commute 40 minutes from chesapaeke (western Branch to Virginia beach) near Lynnhaven road every day. this is
2/14/2012 only add to my cost, and expense just getting to work.
