Attachment to Mr. Cairn's Message Regarding
Termination for Convenience of the P3 Contract for the Midtown Tunnel/Downtown Tunnel/MLK Extension Project
Kimberly Jerry‐McKoy VA VA 23435 United States 2/13/2012 Live In Suffolk, work in Norfolk, and no way to avoid the tolls...No raises but food and gas prices steadily increasing...
Jean Rutherford Portsmouth VA 23703 United States 2/13/2012 This is the only fair thing to do short of a gas tax.
Tomia Newby Chesapeake VA 23321 United States
I am signing this petition against the polls in Hampton Roads, in support of my family, friends, and co‐workers who
2/13/2012 would be negatively impacted financially by this toll.
William Anderson Virginia Beaqch VA 23454 United States 2/13/2012 It is absolutely the wrong thing to do, for petes sake man up and TAX us.
Susan Cornett Williamsburg VA 23188 United States 2/13/2012 Please just raise the gas tax and don't further complicate our daily travels with toll collection
diana davey chesapeake VA 23321 United States
Something tells me the taxes won't go down in Virginia once the tolls go into effect. just another way to take money
2/13/2012 out of my pocket.
Terry Danaher Portsmouth VA 23704 United States
This is nothing more than a plan to fund private industry at taxpayer expense. We've already funded the roads
leading through the tunnels; now we're being asked to pay for those roads again at inflated prices over the next 58
years to generate state‐guaranteed outrageous profits at great cost to citizens. Too bad we aren't all corporations
2/13/2012 whose citizenship is obviously at a higher level than that of mere people.
Margaret Robinson hampton VA 23663‐1124 United States
Tolls would place an additional burden on those citizens on a fixed income. I am willing to pay more on the gas tax,
2/13/2012 which would spread the payment out.
Michael Khandelwal Norfolk VA 23517 United States
These tolls are preposterous! Once again, Hampton Roads is given the short end of the stick. Weâ €ve paid for
Roanokeâ€s, Richmondâ€s, and Northern Virginiaâ€s roads, all while receiving 20 percent less road funding per
capita than, for example, Richmond. Weâ€re actually owed the entire amount it would cost to build another
2/13/2012 midtown tunnel. Itâ€s time to stop this madness, get angry, and let our voices be heard.
Bernard J. Karpowski, III Portsmouth VA 23701 United States
I am signing because no matter how you look at it a toll is a TAX and this TAX has not gone through the proper
2/13/2012 procedures to be approved!
Janine Latus Norfolk VA 23508 United States 2/13/2012 We have paid for roads all over the state with our tax dollars. It's time for the state's tax dollars to come to us.
Kathy Brobst Virginia Beach VA 23464 United States
Weâ€ve paid for Roanokeâ€s, Richmondâ€s, and Northern Virginiaâ€s roads, all while receiving 20 percent
less road funding per capita than, for example, Richmond. Weâ€re actually owed the entire amount it would cost to
2/13/2012 build another midtown tunnel. Not to mention the gridlock would cripple the downtown areas.
Mary Wilt Norfolk VA 23508 United States
Tolls will disproportionately affect low income residents of Portsmouth who must travel tunnels daily to work in
other cities, and will decrease "optional" trips to Portsmouth for recreation, restaurants, etc, only further harming
2/13/2012 Portsmouth's economy.
Alicia Scott Chesapeake` VA 23321 United States
I am signing this petition because I am a sinlge mother who is working full‐time and is in school. As a tax payer I feel
that this is another way to take money away from me and my son. The food in the grocery stores are going up and
gas prices are going up. I can not afford everything on my own. I am currently working downtown Norfolk at
Macarthur Mall so I have to go through these tunnels everyday and pay for parking which is already high. So taking
2/13/2012 more money out my pocket is going to cause another stress on my life.
