Attachment to Mr. Cairn's Message Regarding
Termination for Convenience of the P3 Contract for the Midtown Tunnel/Downtown Tunnel/MLK Extension Project
Barbara Strudwick Suffolk VA 23435 United States
This toll would make it possible for some people to continue to get to work or to school. Those on the margin should
2/10/2012 NOT be punished more. Raise taxes!
Lilian Howard Virginia Beach VA 23454 United States
A gas tax increase of pennies for all citizens using our Virginia public roads is far more fair approach than isolated
efforts requiring oversight of scattered private enterprise involvement and taking big dollars from the few unlucky to
2/10/2012 need to use the roadways of such projects on a daily basis.
James Derr Norfolk VA 23503 United States
creating more division between Hampton Roads Cities. Economic impact on Portsmouth businesses. Hardship on
2/10/2012 those living in one community and living in another.
Ashley Johnson Chesapeake VA 23321 United States 2/10/2012 This is absolutely ridiculous and everyone I know is not happy with the changes that will be coming.
Paul Harrison Norfolk VA 23518 United States
I highly object to tolls being placed on the tunnels in the Hampton Roads area. The better method is to increase the
2/10/2012 gasoline tax to fund transportation needs.
Margaret McCabe Virginia Beach VA 23452 United States 2/10/2012 Impacts the working poor and small business in Portsmouth and Norkolf
Virginia Derr Norfolk VA 23503 United States 2/10/2012 why not bring "The Tide" to Portsmouth. More roads are not the answer.
Mary Ann Menoche Virginia Beach VA 23452 United States
These tolls will hurt the working class and the poor the hardest‐‐over $1,000 a year when many have to cut back on
2/10/2012 food and medical care.
Amanda Letterman Portsmouth VA 23704 United States
Because I live in Olde Towne Portsmouth, and if this passes I would be unable to afford and would have to move out
2/10/2012 of an already struggling area.
Lee Warner Virginia Beach VA 23453 United States
Strongly opposed to tolls. Alot of People who live in chesapeake, NN, Hampton, work in Norfolk, VB and have to
travel those roads daily. To force them to add time to their commute just so you can toll them is completely and
2/10/2012 utterly rediculous.
Pat Faison Suffolk VA 23435 United States
Our voted in Politicians whom citizen trusts often say they do not want to increase taxes and that is fine because we
know that may be inevitable. But (honestly), then what are Tolls? Call it what one chooses; It is still monies that will
be subtracted from an Individual's total income. Maybe those reconstructions can be done at a later time but right
now the Citizens are speaking up and clearly with “heart†stang – Not now! More and more voicing they are
already strapped and pulled thin. And just my opinion, the way it has all proceeded with the use of such words as
propriety information, privatized, and then the uncaring response of – “Oh well…whatâ€s done is done!â€
– Only leaves poor taste and terrible negative perceptions in people about our law makers. Estimated cost per
person nearly $1,300.00 annually. And double that for a two‐household income. Now add to that impact if they are
our seniors, military personnel or students attending ODU, NSU, TCC as well as other education/training
programs…or retirees on a fixed income or businesses that have to constantly use the tunnels up to 2‐3 times daily
to service customers and or meet school requirements. And certainly at this time for all the voices to at least not be
heard – would no doubt affect trust. And right now in our society….There is no value or monies to fix or replace
2/10/2012 that.
Greg Godfrey Virginia Beach VA 23456 United States
The cost of living has been rising with no increase in salary. Now, I have to figure out how to pay for this toll 5 days a
2/10/2012 week just to get to work. UNACCEPTABLE!!
Jimmy Stephens portsmouth VA 23707 United States 2/10/2012 My wife does volunteer work for Lee's Friends and Meals on Wheels...the tolls may put a stop to it.
Ray Twine Portsmouth VA 23703 United States 2/10/2012 no alternate route between Norfolk and Portsmouth without tolls
Carolyn Hawks Virgina Beach VA 23451 United States 2/10/2012 oppose to tolls on roads. Economy is bad enough on the average person without adding on tolls.
Sandra Hodges Virginia Beach VA 23464 United States
We paid for these tunnels years ago and the tolls were removed. We don't need to pay a toll to leave town.!!!!! Find
2/10/2012 another way to fix this mess, ie stop unnecessary spending and use money more wisely.
Cathy Whitaker Chesapeake VA 23323 United States 2/10/2012 tolls are unreasonable.
Alan Psimas Norfolk VA 23503 United States
We should not have to pay tolls for roads when we already pay high taxes. I am sorry that the people of Hampton
Roads were mislead several years ago when we should have all voted for a gas tax. Today that 2 or 3 cents would
have meant nothing compared to the huge increase in the price of gas and a $1.50 + each direction toll. No one
2/10/2012 would have felt it and those that use the roads would have paid for its use fairly via that tax.
