Attachment to Mr. Cairn's Message Regarding
Termination for Convenience of the P3 Contract for the Midtown Tunnel/Downtown Tunnel/MLK Extension Project
dan drouin portsmouth VA 23702 United States
$120 a month to pay for the privilege of going to work that we never had to pay before. I'm gonna have to find jobs
2/8/2012 on the portsmouth side now.
Doreen Thompson Portsmouth VA 23701‐2412 United States 2/8/2012 NO TOLLS !! GAS TAX IS BETTER!!
Amber Forehand Portsmouth VA 23707 United States
I live in Portsmouth, but I go to school and work in Norfolk. I don't believe I should be punished financially just
2/8/2012 because our government decided changes needed to be made.
Betty Wade Coyle Norfolk VA 23507 United States 2/8/2012 Will adversely impact regionalism and disproportionately impact the poor and the City of Portsmouth.
WILLIAM THOMSON Portsmouth VA 23701‐2412 United States 2/8/2012 NO TOLLS!!!!!!1 GAS TAX INSTEAD!!
Nicole Johnson Portsmouth VA 23703 United States
I am not opposed to tolls, but I am opposed to the cost. I believe that paying around $2.00 one‐way will impact
2/8/2012 people's quality of life, including my own.
Anna Van Laethem Chespeake VA 23321 United States
Imposing these tolls is unfair and will make Portsmouth "land locked" and will isolate Western Branch from the rest
2/8/2012 of Chesapeake. Increase in the gas tax would be a better alternative . Thank you
Cynthia Jones Portsmouth VA 23701 United States
This is an increased "tax" on Portsmouth workers in addition to the taxes that they already pay to support roads
2/8/2012 repair and construction throughout the state.
John Eppler Norfolk VA 23508 United States
Tolls were abolished in Hampton Roads because they were universally viewed as an real impediment to growth. To
reimpose them, at all, but in particular with a built in profit margin for the privatized portion of the venture will lead
2/8/2012 to severe economic problems.
Mary Bartley Portsmouth VA 23704 United States 2/8/2012 Because I believe the monies should come from gas taxes and not from (mostly) the local citizens.
Kathelyn Williams Norfolk VA 23523 United States 2/8/2012 In trucking business. We travel that route from NIT daily.
Jill Conty Chesapeake VA 23321 United States
My son, who only makes $30,000 will be paying $1,000 annually for the tolls. My husband also uses the tunnels at
2/8/2012 least twice a day (sometimes more). Excessive costs to ourfamily!
Rose Ann Herto Suffolk VA 23434 United States
We are retired and on a very small income, our great grand children all live in Hampton and Newport News. Tolls
2/8/2012 added to the gas prices will keep us from seeing them.
Andrew Davis Chesapeake VA 23321 United States 2/8/2012 We are opposed to the tolls and a gas tax or other method less costly should be implemented.
verdell williams Norfolk VA 23503 United States
I work in the city of Portsmouth I live in the city of Norfolk, I thought I had the best of both worlds. We have not had
2/8/2012 a raise in four years and this going to be a major burden on on
Melissa West Hampton VA 23669 United States
I am a college professor and a student at ODU. Putting a toll at these tunnels will only increase the traffic and
congestion in my already chaotic drive,. in addition to increasing the cost of each trip I need to make through the
2/8/2012 Downtown tunnel to 664.
Matthew Brown Virginia Beach VA 23455 United States 2/8/2012 this will add a huge cost to my business vehicle maintenance expense (fleet of 45 vehicles)
Kirby Foytik Portsmouth VA 23707 United States 2/8/2012 The tolls are a local tax. Now we will be letting a private company collect the tax and keep a healthy profit.
Alan Armitstead Suffolk VA 23435 United States
Transportation is a state responsibility and not an opportunity for a private corporation to make millions off of our
2/8/2012 residents. The deal worked out between state and elizabeth Crossing is atrocious and one‐sided.
Erikka Massie Suffolk VA 23435 United States
The tolls are way to expensive especially with the economy the way it is, and rising gas prices this will hurt citizens
2/8/2012 more than it will help.
Elaina Trafny Virginia Beach VA 23764 United States
I have two jobs in Portsmouth, and having to pay a toll daily will affect me financial and will most likely force me to
find another job that does not require me to pay a toll to get there. I teach during the day and supplement my
income by bartending part‐time at night and the Oldetowne restaurant community and business WILL be affected by
the tolls on the tunnels. People from other citiest may be discouraged to come dine in Portsmouth because they
2/8/2012 have to pay to get there, which will again effect me finanically.
Sean Little Portsmouth VA 23704 United States
I live and work in Portsmouth....a community that is already seeing small businesses close. Where is Portsmouth's
2/8/2012 representation?
Milton Smith Portsmouth VA 23703 United States 2/8/2012 I am a trucking company. Our competition in Nordfolk will have an advantage over us.
Brett Lukasik Portsmouth VA 23704 United States
Tolls on tunnels that are such vital arteries to the local area will have a massive effect on businesses throughout the
area. If I traveled to and from work and paid the toll both ways, I will do everything possible to avoid going through
the tunnels again. As a result I will think twice before traveling to spend my remaining money in Norfolk or Virginia
2/8/2012 Beach.
misty potter mattaponi VA 23110 United States 2/8/2012 I lived here, and was born here.
