Attachment to Mr. Cairn's Message Regarding
Termination for Convenience of the P3 Contract for the Midtown Tunnel/Downtown Tunnel/MLK Extension Project
LISA CARROLL NORFOLK VA 23505‐4325 United States 2/7/2012 It will cause major harm to the trucking industry working the ports.
Linda Peele Norfolk VA 23502 United States 2/7/2012 Would rather raise the gas tax than put tolls on all our roads & tunnels
lorraine dashiell portsmouth VA 23703 United States 2/7/2012 tolls will cause a financial hardship for commuters and isolate the city of portsmouth cf
Francis Bohenek Norfolk VA 23503 United States 2/7/2012 retired on limited income & some doctors are in Portsmouth.
Georgena Lindquist Portsmouth VA 23703 United States
I have lived in Portsmouth for 24 years and I have witnessed decisions being shoved down our throats with total
disregard for the citizens in the area. I will spend the extra gas money to drive entirely out of my way to not pay this
toll. These dollars and a new tunnel will only compromise the traffic in the area to a much greater extent. The local
wizards should be looking to take advantage of technology and spread out the business community. The
infrastructure cannot accommodate undisciplined expansion. These tunnels are paid for WE don't want another. Go
2/7/2012 build it from Newport News to the Marine terminal and put a toll on that one!
J S Moyock NC 27958 United States 2/7/2012 Put a toll on the new tunnel not the existing tunnel(s).
Erinn Smith Ivor VA 23866 United States
This will make a huge challenge for national defense purposes in an already congested road system. Not to mention,
many will not be able to afford the commute who serve. I am sure the extra expense will be considered in the new
2/7/2012 brack k commision. Keep money in VA!
james rider chesapeake VA 23323 United States 2/7/2012 Elected leaders failed to do responsible thing of raising revenue (gas tax increase).
Tawanda Jones chesapeake VA 23323 United States
to add a toll during rush hours is outrageous! we are lucky to get to or from norfolk ontime due to the bridge lifts. its
2/7/2012 already congested, don't add onto it!
Susan Misle Fincke Virginia Beach VA 23452 United States 2/7/2012 Follow the money. Toll Road Investors Partnership II.
Beatrice Holcombe Portsmouth VA 23703 United States 2/7/2012 it will kill Portsmouth and our taxes will climb
Carla Bell Chesapeake VA 23321 United States
The arteries in the southeastern VA are vital to the welfare of the entire state. The entire state needs to share the
burden of upgrades. The proposed toll will place an enormous burden on the backs of those who desperately need
to use these bridges and tunnels. I would personally prefer that the tunnel be left as is if the alternative is for me to
2/7/2012 pay $800 next year to use it.
Southgate Leigh Norfolk VA 23507 United States
I travel through the midtown tunnel 4 times a day for work. My 87 year old mother in law lives in Portsmouth which
2/7/2012 adds an additonal 8 trips per week. You figure out what that is going to cost me!!!!!!!!!
Roger Cornett Portsmouth VA 23701 United States
These tolls will place a hardship on the citizens and businesses of all of Tidewater area. Our way of living will be
2/8/2012 upset forever. A 58 year long toll is absolutely ridiculous!!!
ROBERT CANTRELL VIRGINIA BEACH VA 23464 United States 2/8/2012 HIGHEST TAX EVER IN TH STATE BY 2040 OVER $6000B ON TOLL. REPUBLICAN PARTY WIILL REGRET THIS FOR EVER
Brenda Baker Virginia Beach VA 23464 United States
Too many reasons to name them all, we are taxed enough already, It will drive businesses out of the area. Place an
additional burden on already struggling commuters...on top of the crazy fuel taxes and prices that we already pay
2/8/2012 ...and more
Bonnie McAuliffe Carrollton VA 23314 United States
Whether we use the tunnels or bridges is not relevant because we all benefit from them, one way or another. Do the
2/8/2012 fair and SMART thing and just raise the gas tax.
Melvin Bowser Suffolk VA 23434 United States
I'm signing because the people and even some city Mayors were blindsided by this. Also I believe it is an erosion of
the people's rights when the state govt enters a public private partnership for 50 plus years with a private company
with public money. That means Virginia is stuck with that agreement for 50 or more years. The present General
2/8/2012 Assembly members wont be around that long.
Stanley Flavin Vhirginia Beach VA 23455 United States 2/8/2012 I work in Portsmouth
Kevin Hix Portsmouth VA 23702‐1806 United States
The roads in this area are a cluster up. The downtown tunnel is the worst idea ever. A tunnel that ends with a draw
bridge and criss‐crossed lanes to stay on or get off of 264. It sounds like a joke! The real joke is VDOT and its infinite
2/8/2012 ability to waste our money.
i am signing bc i often travel through the tunnels...tthe tunnels are always backed up or stopped for other reasons,
ginger brinkley suffolk VA 23435 United States 2/8/2012 and i cant imagine a stop for a toll, plus who can afford or wants to pay the toll to go and come back..
