Attachment to Mr. Cairn's Message Regarding
Termination for Convenience of the P3 Contract for the Midtown Tunnel/Downtown Tunnel/MLK Extension Project
John Turpel Newport News VA 23608 United States
Im sure its been mentioned how long past due the old toll booth on 264 was left up. where did all that money go?
the freeway couldve been paved in GOLD! Also that hump where the old toll booth was is STILL THERE. That was
supposed to be removed for safety. WHERE DID THAT MONEY GO? Find all that money and give me a new tunnel. All
these car taxes inspection fees city stickers over inflated home assessments to get more taxes etc., I dont see any of
it outside. I see huge sprawling ghettos and dead bodies laying around all over the place. Nowhere else in the
country are they taxed so much yet have a horrible mess of roads like this. I have to drive through the HRBT in fear of
it collapsing and what are all those lights doing in there? what did that cost? tiles are missing pipes are breaking
lights are burnt out. Whos in charge? its a disgrace! Unsafe as can be. Obviously not a penny of the money that
3/14/2012 should have gone to roads did.
Dawn Charity Petersburg VA 23805 United States
I'm signing because I'm from the Norfolk area and adding extra just to get home is not right it is bad enough about
3/14/2012 the gas don't make it hard for me to get home for visits
Derrick Nottingham Portsmouth VA 23703 United States 3/14/2012 This will create an undue burden on many citizens who are already struggling to make ends meet.
Janet Carro Suffolk VA 23435 United States
I travel through the tunnel twice every day and I think $20. a week for tolls is rediculous. If the $.25 toll had been left
3/14/2012 on the tunnels there would be no need for any of this.
Kimberly Wright Corapeake NC 27926 United States
My husband drive through there every day twice a day and it would hurt us very badly finacially the cost of gas being
3/14/2012 what it is and we could not survive another hit...daily its too much.
Diane Burnett Carrollton VA 23314 United States 3/14/2012 Oppose tolls in Hampton Roads
Francis Bondoc Chesapeake VA 23321 United States
I'm a local Business Consultant for Government Contracting. This would impact my business everyday of the week.
3/14/2012 My Daughter lives in VA Beach. This would put a strain on keeping up family relations.
Charles Joyner Poquoson VA 23662 United States 3/14/2012 More taxex & tolls will only stifle a struggling economy.
Arthur R. Locke III Smithfield VA 23430 United States
The use of bridges and tunnels are largely unavoidable for people living in this area. The implementation of tolls is
predatory, unfair, and usary, and will impose an impediment on people in pursuit of living their daily lives.
3/14/2012 Commerce throughout the Hampton Roads area will be hampered as well.
Diane Boyd Norfolk VA 23508 United States 3/14/2012 I am disabled but I work in Portsmouth. This would be a financial inconvenience
Katie Parker Portsmouth VA 23707 United States 3/15/2012 Family live there and i dont want to have to pay tolls when i come for visits.
Jose[h Carro Suffolk VA 23435 United States
against the tolls, maybe the lottery money should pay the bill, after all, it was supposed to pay for the roadways and
3/15/2012 schools. It doesn't seem to be doing that!
Frank Anderson Virginia Beach VA 23454 United States 3/15/2012 It will add an expenditure of $1,200 a year just to get to work.
Pamela Hendrix Virginia Beach VA 23455 United States
I am signing on because I am a teacher in Portsmouth and live in Va Beach, which means that I will be paying a
minium of $60 every month just to get to work and back. In addition, traffic at the tunnels is already horrific at times
and pung in toll booths is going to slow traffic down even more.
I am concerned about the relationship our Govenor has with the company that will be doing the work on the tunnel.
3/15/2012 Sounds real shady.
Carollyn Boykins‐Winrow Chesapeake VA 23322 United States
The tolls are a burden on local individuals and families. In addition, the money generated will not benefit the
3/15/2012 hampton roads community.
Charles Goldsmith Suffolk VA 23434 United States
I believe the gas tax should be raised so that everyone that drives should pay their fair share. I seldom use the tunnel
since I am retired. The roads around DC and northern virginia don't have tolls so why sould the Tidewater area? It's
3/15/2012 called politics
Bettye Wright Portsmouth VA 23702 United States
Maybe think of cutting the paychecks of state and local officials and get the money that way. It's hard enough to
3/15/2012 make ends meet without worrying about tolls.
chariety brown Suffolk, VA 23434 United States
I use the Midtown tunnel twice per day 5 days a week and sometimes on the weekend because i work on that side of
3/15/2012 town. Not having a raise in 4 years and now this out of pocket expense only adds to more financial problems.
antoinette strang norfolk VA 23517 United States 3/15/2012 cost to drive and decision process was not done correctly
richard sudol wharton NJ 7885 United States 3/15/2012 will cost the students at schools in the area ,money they probably cannot afford
Khohli Rawlings Suffolk VA 23434 United States
We do not need to slow our traffic pattern. I have no problem paying an additional tax but using tolls are not the way
3/15/2012 to go and it should be shared by all car driver, not just those who traverse under water.
