Attachment to Mr. Cairn's Message Regarding
Termination for Convenience of the P3 Contract for the Midtown Tunnel/Downtown Tunnel/MLK Extension Project
Danyel Cuffee Portsmouth VA 23704 United States
I commute to ODU everyday for school....not for fun. I CAN NOT DO IT. An extra thousand dollars a year is
3/5/2012 unthinkable and obsurd.
Joanne Steen Virginia Beach VA 23455 United States
Without mass transit in Hampton Roads, we have no good options for travel except by car. Tolls are an unfair burden
3/5/2012 in our area!
Anne Lewis Norfolk VA 23508 United States
Worry about imprisonment with no way out...that is, we need gas tax or something like that but no tolls to keep us at
3/5/2012 home.
James Hudson Portsmouth VA 23701 United States
It is very clear of how much hardship it will create for business, students, truckers and the tourist industry. Our state
leaders have just said "let if proceed, whatever". These tolls should not happen in this economey when everyone is
3/5/2012 at an economic struggle.
Sara Tretola Portsmouth VA 23703 United States 3/5/2012 Property values will go down, cost of traveling
RAYMOND CUSIC VIRGINIA BEACH VA 23455 United States 3/5/2012 TO START WITH HOW ABOUT NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION THEN WE CAN MOVE ON FROM THERE
ANGELO ASPIRAS VIRGINIA BEACH VA 23464 United States
I live in Virginia Beach, my primary care physician, cardiologist, ENT, urologist, are all located in Portsmouth. If toll is
3/5/2012 emplemented, I will find my providers on this side of the tunnel
ashlee dunn Chesapeake VA 23321 United States 3/5/2012 Because I'm poor!!!
Jay Ferguson portsmouth VA 23701 United States
Portsmouth has been my home for pretty much my whole life. For them to put these tolls up it would make this place
fall to shame. If we needed to go to Norfolk by bus, it would brake our pockets. Just going to see your family would
be like paying the same amount as a gallon of gas there and back . This may isolate the seven cities. Any thing could
3/5/2012 happen, and most likely it wouldn't be pretty.
Brian Owen Virginia Beach VA 23451 United States
The tolls as proposed disproportionally harm Hampton Roads, and our local commuters in particular. Use a fair tax
(like increased fuel taxes) to cover the cost. It would be much cheaper than the logistics of a tolls system, and would
avoid placing the noose of tolls around our necks, especially when a foreign company holds the other end of the
3/5/2012 rope.
Timothy Thompson Chesapeake VA 23321 United States
I believe if a road is a toll road, it should offer some sort of premium service over other roads to access the same area
3/5/2012 ‐ less traffic, quicker route, etc. There should not be a toll on both tunnels between Portsmouth and Norfolk!
Robert Lamarre Chesapeake VA 23321 United States
Why is government not responsible to manage the money they have, to get the job done with what they have been
given? When they mismanage the cost is just passed off to the citizens? Prove that the tolls are the only way to
3/5/2012 accomplish the goal and perhaps citizens will support it.
Laurie Dangell Norfolk VA 23513 United States
Its not that I do not want to support the roads, but with the increase of gas, utilities, and other finances, the
paycheck just does not stretch too far. Plus we have enough traffic problems on the bridges and tunnels, why would
3/5/2012 you want to add tolls to make the traffic situation worse.
Yana Ray Portsmouth VA 23701 United States
I live in Portsmouth and work in Ghent. I make a meager living and this high priced toll would push my finances. Don't
3/5/2012 raise my cost of gas and then add tolls...we need some relief.
virginia mcclenney portsmouth VA 23702 United States 3/5/2012 go to work from portsmouth to norfolk and back again at least 5 time a week, plus gas prices are way up also.
Laurie Dangell Norfolk VA 23513 United States 3/5/2012 With the traffic issues in Hampton Roads now, why in the world would want to increase the traffic problems.
I am a single mother who works full time, is a a student at NSU full time and struggling to pay my bills. I cannot see
Theresa Johnson Portsmouth VA 23702 United States 3/5/2012 how I am going to come up with this monthly bill for tolls.
Wendy Ellis Portsmouth VA 23707 United States
Portsmouth is a low income county, why place a toll on the main road way were we head out to work. Many people
are going to lose jobs because of the toll. Also the back up in traffic is going to be outrageous. The traffic already
backs up over 4 miles to get through the tunnel, now you will never make it to work on time...much less be able to
afford to get through everyday. This is not a good place to place a toll. Why not place it in Virginia Beach. The tourist
alone brings in more money to that city. Make the tourist pay the tolls...there are many other things that can be
done rather then make a low income small area pay to go through a tunnel that is access to many of the jobs that we
3/5/2012 do not have on this side of the water.
