isti i u iscjeliteljskim zahvatima (bioenergija, vjerski obredi – liječenje
rukama i sl.).
smiriti veoma uznemirenu osobu.
kozmetoterapijskim uslugama i sl.
TOUCH AS NONVERBAL COMMUNICATION –
ETHICAL DILEMMAS
Touch or physical contact in general varies with the degree of intimacy
that exists between two people. The human touch can be great comfort
in stressful situations. Touch as nonverbal communication is increasingly
being used in healing interventions (bioenergy, religious rites – treatment
with hands, etc.).
In the process of nursing patients touch has a favourable impact on
the psyche of the patient, although sometimes therapists must be careful in
their use of touch. In the UK therapists were very restrained in the use of
touch as a means of communication.
Touch within the social context is largely confined to the handshake,
tap on the shoulder or back, etc. In case of illnesses or distress touch can be
the most appropriate form of communication, can provide comfort or calm
a very disturbed person.
Touch as nonverbal communication in working with patients plays an
important role, but also entails a series of ethical dilemmas. Ethical dilemmas
arise in the use of touch in religious ceremonies, healing rituals,
cosmetic services, etc.
