simpozij INTEGRATIVNA BIOETIKA I NOVA EPOHA Symposium INTEGRATIVE BIOETHICS AND NEW EPOCH SONJA ANTONIĆ Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad, Serbia / Filozofski fakultet, Univerzitet u Novom Sadu, Srbija THE BIOETHICAL AND BIOGENETICAL ASPECTS OF GENDER The author attempts to explain that any type of categorisation of gender identity is flawed, since every human being manifests (manifestation as genetic-expression) their “genderness” in a unique way. Even though genetics implies that there are four ways of lining chromosome information regarding gender (XY, XX, XXY, XYY), there are countless ways of manifesting these specific genetic pieces of information. Gender alternations are frequently referred to as disorders. The author questions the justification of this and other similar statements. Questioning common generalisations and simplifications of the issues concerning genetics, the author implies that gender issues are only one example of such flawed common practice. A change of perspective concerning gender and many other biogenetical issues is needed not only in bioethics, but with the aim to implement this change in the other sciences through bioethics.
