Subverzivni ples na margini performativnih identiteta, ako već ne vrši<br />

opoziv, zasigurno dovodi u pitanje samorazumljivost i neupitnost postojećih<br />

društvenih normi i kategorijalnih aparata moći.<br />

U tom smislu, neophodno je osvještavanje i priznavanje pozicije drugoga/drugih,<br />

makar bili u pitanju i ne-zemaljski oblici života. Pomicanjem<br />

granica koje smo nametnuli Drugome i afirmacijom razumijevanja, koja<br />

pri tome ništa ne podrazumijeva, otvaramo prostore tolerancije koja neće<br />

služiti tek legitimaciji jačega. Baudrillardovskim riječima, neautentičnost i<br />

neizvjesnost svijeta, koji ne poznaje svoj ekvivalent, realan je kao i K-PAX,<br />

a njegovi stanovnici, ne/izvjesni i ne/autentični kao i bilo koji drugi oblik<br />

života.<br />

RE-THINKING THE CONCEPT OF OTHERNESS AND THE<br />

OTHER/S IN THE DECONSTRUCTION KEY OF<br />

XENOLOGY AND ANTI-PSYCHIATRY: THE CASE OF K-PAX<br />

Prot or Robert Proter – an extraterrestrial or a human being whose<br />

mind is demented? K-PAX – a real place or hetero(u)topia? Where does reason/commonsense<br />

end and where does madness begin? Is reason beyond<br />

madness or insanity beyond reason? Who sets the limits and conditions of<br />

what is normal and socially acceptable, or is everything that is socially acceptable<br />

at the same time normal/sensible? Where does individual identity<br />

start, and where does collective identity end?<br />

Subversive dance on the margins of performative identities – if it does<br />

not act as suspension, it most certainly brings into question the indisputability<br />

of the existing social norms and structures of power.<br />

In this sense, it is necessary to raise awareness about and acknowledge<br />

the position of the Other/otherness, even if it comes in the form of non-terrestrial<br />

life. Shifting the boundaries that we have imposed on the Other/otherness<br />

and affirming understanding, which implies absolutely nothing, we<br />

make room for tolerance that will anything but only serve to legitimise the<br />

stronger. In Baudrillardesque words, the inauthenticity and uncertainty of<br />

the world, which knows not its equivalent, is just as real as K-PAX, and its<br />

residents are just as un/certain and in/authentic as any other form of life.<br />
