vrijednosti. U radu ćemo usporediti ponuđene pozicije, ponuditi neke od<br />

mogućih prigovora, kao i odgovore na njih, te prikazati kako se one postavljaju,<br />

odnosno kako bi se postavljale, prema ne-ljudskim bićima, bilo da se<br />

radi o životinjama ili o izvanzemaljskim oblicima života.<br />

A NON-SPECIESIST APPROACH TO THE RIGHTS<br />

AND VALUE OF EXTRATERRESTRIAL LIFE FORMS<br />

Rejecting the speciesist thesis that the attribution of special rights and<br />

value to members of the human species is justified solely because of their<br />

human nature, as well as noticing that this is a morally arbitrary position<br />

similar to racism, sexism and ethnocentrism, we offer two possible answers<br />

to the problem of the special rights and value attribution. The first<br />

follows the utilitarian tradition and emphasises that the main feature in the<br />

attribution of rights and value is ​the ability to feel pleasure and pain, while<br />

the other emphasises the moral powers and moral capabilities of a particular<br />

being as important features in the attribution of rights and value. In this<br />

paper we compare the above two positions offered, present some possible<br />

objections, and show how the positions stand as far as non-human beings,<br />

whether animals or extraterrestrial life forms, are concerned.<br />

razuma? Tko postavlja granice i uvjete onoga što je normalno, a društveno<br />

prihvatljivo, odnosno je li sve što je društveno prihvatljivo ujedno i normalno?<br />

U kojoj točki započinje osobni, a završava kolektivni identitet?<br />
