CHANGED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS<br />

SATURDAY 9 AND SUNDAY 10 FEBRUARY <strong>2013</strong><br />

Dear resident or business,<br />

The <strong>Geelong</strong> <strong>Multi</strong> <strong>Sport</strong> <strong>Festival</strong> takes place over three days, from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th February.<br />

The <strong>Festival</strong> program offers a wide range of sports <strong>and</strong> activities for people of all abilities. The <strong>Festival</strong> also benefits the<br />

<strong>Geelong</strong> Give Where You Live program as the events charity partner.<br />

Due to the staging of the <strong>Geelong</strong> <strong>Multi</strong> <strong>Sport</strong> <strong>Festival</strong>’s program, changed traffic conditions will apply in your area which<br />

will affect access into <strong>and</strong> out of your property on Saturday 9 <strong>and</strong> Sunday 10 February <strong>2013</strong>.<br />

The event participants will be running <strong>and</strong> cycling on the roadway. To ensure everyone’s safety, road closures, tow away<br />

zones <strong>and</strong> no st<strong>and</strong>ing areas will be implemented, during the event. The times <strong>and</strong> locations of the changed traffic<br />

conditions vary over the two days. Please refer to the maps within this notification for information relating to your area.<br />

Detour signage <strong>and</strong> event marshals will be in place during the road closure periods to provide directions to motorists.<br />

Emergency access will be maintained at all times during the road closure period.<br />

THE WATERFRONT AND THE CITY<br />

The Waterfront <strong>and</strong> Central <strong>Geelong</strong> will be a buzz with excitement. Witness some amazing participation sports <strong>and</strong> multi<br />

award winning triathletes compete in the <strong>Geelong</strong> <strong>Multi</strong> <strong>Sport</strong> <strong>Festival</strong>. The cafes <strong>and</strong> restaurants are open. Come along<br />

<strong>and</strong> watch some of Australia’s best sportspeople compete!<br />

BUSINESS DELIVERIES<br />

Deliveries will be limited during the road closure periods. Please advise your staff <strong>and</strong> suppliers of the changed traffic<br />

conditions <strong>and</strong> refer to the Saturday <strong>and</strong> Sunday maps for this information. If you have any enquiries, contact the USM<br />

Events Project Manager, Adam Renn on 1300 651 680 once you have received this notification.<br />

EASTERN PARK AND THE LIMEBURNERS BOAT RAMP<br />

Vehicle access to the East <strong>Geelong</strong> Golf Course, <strong>Geelong</strong> Conference Centre <strong>and</strong> the <strong>Geelong</strong> Botanic Gardens will be<br />

unavailable between 6AM to 2PM on Sunday 10 th February. Limeburners Boat Ramp will be closed between 6AM to 2PM<br />

on Sunday 10 th February. The St Helen’s Boat Ramp in North <strong>Geelong</strong> will be open at all times.<br />

TEMPORARY CHANGES TO BUS SERVICES<br />

Bus stops along the events course cannot be serviced during the event. Please visit www.metlink.com.au for a revised bus<br />

time table, providing advice of the closest bus stop <strong>and</strong> the route being implemented, during the road closure periods.<br />

TEMPORARY CHANGED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS AND ACCESS ADVICE<br />

SATURDAY 9 FEBRUARY <strong>2013</strong><br />

The Esplanade, Western Beach Road <strong>and</strong> Eastern Beach Road from Glenleith Avenue to Bellerine Street, will be<br />

closed from approximately 6.30AM to 12NOON.<br />

• Vehicle access to Cunningham Pier is available via Cunningham Street only. Cross over Western Beach Road<br />

<strong>and</strong> proceed onto Cunningham Pier (<strong>and</strong> vice versa for motorists exiting this area.)<br />

• Access to the residents of Edgewater <strong>and</strong> the 61 Brougham Street Apartments <strong>and</strong> guests of Four Points<br />

Sheraton is available via a slip lane between Yarra Street <strong>and</strong> Steampacket Place, during the road closure period.<br />

Road closures are under the management of traffic controllers; please follow the directions they provide. Motorists may<br />

experience delays, while the participants are on the road.


TEMPORARY CHANGED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS AND ACCESS ADVICE<br />

SUNDAY 10 FEBRUARY <strong>2013</strong><br />

• A Tow Away Zone will apply in Ritchie Boulevard <strong>and</strong> Upper Eastern Beach Road between Bellerine Street<br />

<strong>and</strong> Garden Street from 4AM to 6PM.<br />

• The Esplanade, Western Beach Road <strong>and</strong> Eastern Beach Road from Glenleith Street to Bellerine Street will<br />

be closed to vehicles (6AM until 4.30PM.) However access will be available to exiting residents between<br />

Glenleith Street <strong>and</strong> Canvendish Street travelling west along these roadways <strong>and</strong> exiting at the first left h<strong>and</strong> turn<br />

until approximately 1PM. After 1PM no vehicles will be permitted to travel east or west along the Waterfront until<br />

4:30PM.<br />

• Vehicle access to Cunningham Pier is available by Cunningham Street, only. Crossing over Western Beach Road<br />

<strong>and</strong> proceeding onto Cunningham Pier (<strong>and</strong> vice versa for motorists exiting this area.)<br />

• Vehicle access to the residents of Edgewater <strong>and</strong> the 61 Brougham Street Apartments is available via a slip<br />

lane between Yarra Street <strong>and</strong> Steampacket Place until 1PM only.<br />

• Valet parking is available for the guests of Four Points Sheraton on Brougham Street, between 6AM to 4.30PM.<br />

• Vehicle access to The VUE <strong>and</strong> Promenade Apartments car parks is available via Bellerine Street only. The<br />

Promenade Apartments car park on Brougham Street is available via travelling east along Brougham Street only.<br />

• Both sides of The <strong>Geelong</strong> Portarlington Road will be closed from 6AM to 1PM. This includes Point Henry<br />

Road. Motorists will be detoured to the Bellarine Highway. (Refer to insert 1 on the map below.)<br />

• Hermsley Road <strong>and</strong> Avila Road will be closed from 7.00AM to approximately 11.30PM. (Refer to insert 2 on the<br />

map below.)<br />
