HEUFT prime
Checking full containers has never been so easy!
Ingeniously simple, simply ingenious!
Inspecting the fill level, checking the presence,
position and tightness of closures,
detecting unlabelled full containers, burst
bottles and serial faults as well as consistently
rejecting faulty products: this is easier than
ever before with the HEUFT prime!
Because the compact full container check
combines different, freely selectable modules
and technologies with a high degree
of automation and the revolutionary new
audiovisual HEUFT NaVi user guidance.
It guides the respective user step by step
through all the functions which are relevant
to him and provides him with audiovisual
support at the same time. Therefore he can
easily carry out brand changes or sampling
and deal with cleaning and maintenance
practically without any previous knowledge.
Interactive tutorials, auxiliary tools and assistants
provide valuable support in the course
of this. At the same time a friendly voice
presents information acoustically about the
required procedure in each case.
The network compatible HEUFT prime can
be accessed online and therefore offers the
best conditions for production data acquisition
and a continuous documentation of the
production as well as remote maintenance
via the HEUFT TeleService. This together
with its high precision when detecting faults
and its ingeniously simple, resource saving
HEUFT NaVi user guidance define the state
of the art when checking full containers.
HEUFT prime
Reliably detecting underfills and overfills.
Not too little and not too much
The producer risks loss of image and legal
consequences if an insufficient quantity has
been filled. Overfilling is a cost factor which
should not be underestimated – the valuable
product is literally given away. Therefore
a fill level detection is indispensable. The
HEUFT prime carries this out with a high
level of precision. Different detection procedures
are available for this depending on
the characteristics of the product and the
packaging:
The device examines the fill level of full
transparent containers with the corresponding
contents optically by means of infrared
photocells. The filling quantity of nontransparent
products can also be checked
by means of high frequency technology.
The advantage: foam which may be present
is compensated and therefore it does
not affect the result of the fill level detection.
X-ray technology provides precise results –
irrelevant of the characteristics of the product
or packaging.
The HEUFT prime identifies underfilling as
well as overfilling reliably and removes the
full containers in question from the line.
HEUFT prime

The operating principle of the HEUFT sonic with a correct closure , with a faulty closure and with a missing closure .
Firmly and tightly sealed
The integrity and the micro bacterial purity
of the product inside are at risk if the container
is not, or not tightly, sealed. The
HEUFT prime ensures that such bottles, cans
and jars are removed in good time. For this
the compact full container check can be
equipped with different detection modules:
Infrared light scanners are available for
optically checking the presence of the closure.
Photocells identify closure elements
which are too high. The full container check
verifies the presence of metal closures using
inductive sensors. The curvature of can lids
can also be examined with this which makes
it possible to draw conclusions about the
internal pressure and therefore the tightness
of such containers.
An ingenious acoustic leakage check for
crown corks and twist-off closures is carried
out by the HEUFT sonic module: an electromagnetic
pulse makes the lids oscillate. The
noise which results in the course of this is
recorded by means of a microphone and
analysed. This clearly differs in the case of
leaking closures from the acoustic signal
made by perfect metal closures.
Consequently full containers which have not
been correctly sealed are reliably detected
and rejected.
HEUFT prime
Identifying burst bottles in time.
No glass splinters for certain
A serious health risk for the customer: containers
burst in the filler of glass filling lines
once an hour on average. In the course
of this dangerous glass splinters fly around
which can have an adverse effect on product
safety. The bottle burst detection of the
HEUFT prime detects containers which have
burst during the filling process by means of
proximity sensors in the infeed and outfeed
of the filling machine and removes them
from the production flow.
Not only are these rejected but also adjacent
glass packaging and those which have been
filled during the subsequent circuits with the
same valve or one which is not far away.
This eliminates the danger of glass splinters
contaminating the product and putting
the end consumers at risk. In addition the
HEUFT prime can have these purposefully
underfilled in order to rule out the possibility
of the containers in question being inadvertently
returned to the production flow. It is
possible to individually determine for how
many of these the safety measures should
apply.
An extra safety factor is provided by the
shower function which cleans the areas
which could be contaminated with glass
splinters. This protects the consumer against
health risks and the producer against costly
and image-damaging recall actions.
HEUFT prime
Detecting and rejecting unlabelled containers.
No label? No chance!
Important, statutory information about the
contents of a container is missing if it does
not have a label. The HEUFT prime ensures
that such bottles, cans and jars do not even
reach the market.
For this it checks the presence of collar, back,
neck and wrap-around labels by means of
photocells which make use of the different
reflection characteristics of container surfaces
and labels: paper labels reflect diffusely
in all directions whereas the “angle
of incidence equals angle of reflection” law
applies, for instance, in the case of smooth
glass. Sufficient light is always reflected to
the photocell if they have been applied but
this is not the case if they are missing.
The sensors can be directly integrated in the
labeller. A presence check is also possible
whilst the containers are being transported
on the conveyor as an alternative.
HEUFT prime
Detecting recurring faults in time.
Serial faults? No thank you!
The efficiency and productivity of the complete
filling and packaging line suffer when
faults go into production. The HEUFT prime
has a serial fault detection in order to prevent
this.
For example a filler valve which regularly
underfills is detected in good time using
an integrated locator function. A switchoff
pulse is emitted when the number of
faulty fillings exceeds a certain, individually
adjustable threshold value. Therefore malfunctions
can be rectified before they impair
the safety and quality of complete batches
of full containers and cause unacceptably
high reject rates.
The HEUFT prime also uncovers recurring
closure faults and faulty labelling and prevents
these from going into production and
threatening the line efficiency by means of
a stop signal.
www.heuft.com

HEUFT prime
HEUFT checkPoints make it easier to identify the individual components.
Easy and fast brand change
Producing a different container format or
changing the product: brand and program
changes are particularly easy and fast
with the HEUFT prime. This is due, on the
one hand, to its intuitively understandable
HEUFT NaVi user guidance with interactive
tutorials and assistants which explain
and accompany all the steps in detail and
audiovisually. On the other hand the high
degree of automation of the innovative full
container check reduces the need for manual
intervention.
Therefore the system carries out the vertical
adjustment of the detection modules and
measuring bridges located under the terminal
completely automatically. A tap is all
that is required and their positions already
adapt within a very short time to the new
production brand. Noticeable tags, the
so-called HEUFT checkPoints, which light
up on the graphical user interface as well
as the hardware of the HEUFT prime itself
make it easier to identify the few mechanical
parts which require manual adjustment.
It is verified that the changeover has been
carried out correctly afterwards. The selfexplanatory
HEUFT NaVi user guidance
also supports the user step by step at the
same time.
www.heuft.com

HEUFT prime
Container tracking with reject verification.
Consistent monitoring
It must be ensured that each container is
really examined, each fault detected and
each container affected is removed from the
production flow even at high line speeds.
Therefore the system has integrated monitoring
and self-test tools.
Consequently triggers always determine the
exact position of each individual container
and encoders the respective transport speed.
Because of this the system always knows
where each package to be examined is. In
addition a reject verification ensures that all
the containers which have been identified
as being faulty are really rejected. An LED
light strip which can be assembled parallel
to the conveyor of the device shows the
current position of the faulty full packaging
if this is not the case.
Information regarding faulty functions can
be saved in the system in the same way as
details about standstills and malfunctions
and all the other relevant production data.
This important information can be retrieved
at any time from the device itself as well
as from each office PC connected to the
network.
HEUFT prime
Compact and clearly arranged: the interface of the HEUFT ISI.
Simple connection
Installing and commissioning HEUFT devices,
integrating spatially separated components
or retrofitting add-on modules: this works
particularly fast and easily with the HEUFT
ISI. Because the in-house developed isochronous
serial interface keeps the amount of
wiring required extremely low.
It replaces the complex parallel wiring of
sensors and actuators and transfers their
signals in real time. For this one cable is
required to the voltage supply and only
one to the complete signal exchange. As a
result connecting photocells, jam switches
and rejectors is possible within a very short
time. The danger of making errors in the
course of this is extremely low. The number
of time-consuming and cost-intensive
standstills when installing and retrofitting
HEUFT systems which threaten the costeffectiveness
of the complete filling line
is effectively reduced with this innovative
interface technology. Furthermore the small
number of connections also minimises the
proportion of potential error sources.
