Optimal product quality and efficient production
The HEUFT VX combines all the functions
in one device which are necessary
in order to combine the highest product
quality with optimal line efficiency:
It examines pharma, cosmetics and care
product containers such as vials, flacons,
ampoules, jars and shampoo bottles
closely, inspects the fill level of powdery
and liquid contents, checks a large number
of closure and label characteristics
and in this way ensures that the product
is perfectly filled, closed and dressed in
its role as a full container inspector.
Its line analysis function takes over the
monitoring of the complete filling process
and yields exact production statistics. In
this way malfunctions are identified in
good time in order to avoid production
downtimes involving costs and requiring
repairs with a lasting effect.
Fill height check
The filling quantity makes the difference:
directed via mirrors to a CCD camera
serious legal consequences, which takes a picture of the fill level.
loss of image and a decrease in sales The product quantity in the container
present a threat if it is too low. Highquality
changes an electric field when passing
healthcare products are virtually through the measuring bridge in the
given away if it is too high. The HEUFT case of the high frequency technique.
VX checks the fill level using different Precise information regarding the filling
measuring procedures depending on quantity can be obtained by measuring
the packaging and the filled product: this change. The X-ray fill level detection
transparent containers can be checked produces particularly accurate results -
optically. For this LEDs illuminate the independent of the container material
container from the side. The light is and the consistency of the contents. The
www.heuft.com
product in the container attenuates the
X-ray measurement beam. A receiver
records this so that the filling quantity
can be determined with millimetre precision.
The dosage of X-rays emitted for
the fill level detection make up a minute
fraction of the permissible limit values.
Therefore there is no risk of negative
radiation effects on the pharma, cosmetics
or care product contained.

Technologies for detecting closures
The modular construction of the HEUFT
VX makes it possible to combine different
inspection modules which suit the
respective requirements exactly. Constant
new and further developments
ensure that the HEUFT quality assurance
systems redefine the state of the art in
inspection technology again and again.
The photocells which detect excessive
closure height are good value for money,
robust and versatile. Colour sensors
ensure that the product reaches the customer
with the correct closure.
Camera-based systems such as the
HEUFT VISION are more flexible and
check a number of features e.g. that the
closure has been correctly fitted and
that its safety elements are complete
and intact.
HS/rkl 20100820/2010020
The operating principle of the HEUFT VISION (on the left) and a diagram of the all-around check
(on the right)
Exactly viewed
An inspection which only views the container
from one side suffices completely
for a wealth of applications. Durable
and low-maintenance LED strobes illuminate
the upper area of a container in
the case of the HEUFT VISION m o d u l e .
A CCD camera on the opposite side
takes a picture of the shadow so that the
complete closure area is displayed in the
camera picture. Reliable information is
obtained regarding the correct position
of the closure as well as the completeness
and intactness of its safety elements
(e.g. the tamper evident ring) by evaluating
this picture. Furthermore the fill
level of transparent containers can be
checked with it.
A 360 degree inspection of the closure
can be implemented using a second
HEUFT VISION module if this is required.
Alternatively it is also possible to complete
a pure all-around closure inspection
without a fill level detection using
a module which takes four individual
pictures by means of two mirror cabinets
and evaluates them.
HEUFT VX
Label fraud is not possible
The variety of different product variants in
the pharma, cosmetics and bodycare sector
makes the clear definition of a specific
healthcare product more difficult. Thus
the label is the most important source of
information for the customer. The HEUFT
VX can check it is present by using light
scanners. They illuminate the container
and detect whether the label has been
applied or not via the reflection characteristics.
The camera-based label check
inspects the absolute position and align-
ment of a label as well as its position in
relation to others in the case of several
labels. Furthermore this procedure checks
whether the brand-specific correct label
has been applied. For this four individual
pictures are taken of the unaligned container.
The integrated HEUFT reflexx software
then puts them together into a total
developed view. The HEUFT vio OCR,
an intelligent mini camera, verifies the
information on the label. The compact
system reads out imprints, barcodes and
expiry dates etc. using multicoloured LED
illumination even under the most difficult
ambient conditions. The automatic date
adaptation ensures utmost safety when
checking the date. A real-time check that
the 2D codes match the accompanying
manufacturing and batch information is
also possible with this module without a
problem - an important contribution to
the traceability and protection against
counterfeiting of pharmaceuticals.
HEUFT VX
Exemplary sampling
The HEUFT VX takes samples in order
to check the production quality. Regularly
removing these samples is of fundamental
importance in order to be
able to draw reliable conclusions. The
HEUFT VX makes this possible!
The operator can reject a whole series
of successive containers by entering the
number he wishes if a cross-section of
production is required. It is possible to
determine the conditions for sampling
with the HEUFT VX in order to ensure
the greatest possible representativeness.
For example samples are obtained
under standard production conditions
by defining the minimum speed and
abort conditions.
HEUFT VX
The HEUFT reflexx image processing card
The HEUFT reflexx image processing system
Camera-based systems, such as those
used for the optical inspection in the
HEUFT VX, provide large amounts of
data which have to be processed in real
time. Combining two camera pictures
can only be achieved by using extremely
powerful image processing technology.
The calculating speeds of image processors
available on the market often
do not suffice for this task and can only
meet these requirements at low production
outputs.
The basic processing steps are already
carried out in a very short time on a
hardware level by using the HEUFT
reflexx image processing card which has
been specially developed for such tasks.
This leaves more time for the software
controlled picture analysis. The result is
a level of accuracy which is unparalleled
on the market.
