diagnostic furnace bottoms, or tuyères fragments were recovered from any <strong>of</strong> the excavated<br />

features within or outside the possible enclosure.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re was no direct evidence for the occupation <strong>of</strong> the enclosure in the form <strong>of</strong> houses,<br />

structural features or hearths though such evidence might be located further east in the<br />

monuments interior. No artefactual dating evidence was recovered and the excavated<br />

features were devoid <strong>of</strong> finds or faunal remains. <strong>The</strong> charcoal from the excavated features<br />

was too highly contaminated to provide a radiocarbon date though an early medieval date<br />

was suggested for the site.<br />
