<strong>Hanover</strong> Education Foundation Hosts 9th Annual Bowl for Education<br />

On Saturday, January 21, thirty-eight teams<br />

representing every <strong>Hanover</strong> school, the<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> <strong>County</strong> School Board, local<br />

businesses, the central office, and the <strong>Hanover</strong><br />

Education Foundation (HEF) gathered at AMF<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> Lanes on Bell Creek Road for the 9th<br />

“Bowl for Education.” The HEF raised over<br />

$17,600 to support grants and scholarships for<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> <strong>County</strong> students and teachers.<br />

The first place trophy went to the team from<br />

William Quarles). The second place trophy went<br />

to the <strong>Hanover</strong> High School Hawks (George<br />

Sadler, Leslie Simmons, Tom Connolly, Randy<br />

<strong>We</strong>st). The third place trophy went to Liberty<br />

Middle School, Team Awesome (Matt Bobbitt,<br />

Paul Heizer, Dan McGraw, Robert Rice). Chip<br />

Tuck, bowling for the Rural Point Elementary<br />

School team, received the trophy for highest<br />

score in a game for a male, and Barbara Laney<br />

from The Supply Room Companies received the<br />

trophy for highest score in a game for a female.<br />

This year’s costume theme for the tournament<br />

was “The 60’s.” Best Dressed First Place went to<br />

The <strong>Hanover</strong> Center for Trades and Technology<br />

for Gilligan’s Island and Best Dressed Runner-Up<br />

went to Kersey Creek Elementary School for The<br />

Comet Trekkies, a take-off from Star Trek. Best<br />

Dressed Honorable Mention went to <strong>Hanover</strong><br />

Education Foundation for the Rockin’ Rollers.<br />

According to Margaret Hill, Executive Director<br />

of the HEF, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the event.<br />

“Thanks to all of our business partners that once<br />

again made this year’s tournament a success,” said<br />

Ms. Hill. “It’s always great to see folks having a<br />

good time at an event that benefits our students.”<br />
