Generous Support From Our Community Hanover Education Foundation Hosts 7th Annual Bowl for Education Mascots show their school spirit First Place Winners from Hanover High School (left to right): George Sadler, Stephanie Shea, Leslie Stargardt and Bobby Stratton Winners of the Bowl-for-Education Most Spirited Award went to Cold Harbor Elementary School Moms on the Ball Team (left to right): Sandra Dow, Sarah Lambert, Brandi Carter, and Laura Hening. On Saturday, January 23, fifty-two teams representing every Hanover school, the Hanover County School Board, Hanover County Fire & EMS, several local businesses, the central office, and the Hanover Education Foundation (HEF) gathered at AMF Hanover Lanes on Bell Creek Road to “Bowl for Education.” The HEF raised over $13,800 to support grants and scholarships for Hanover County students and teachers. The first place trophy went to the team from Hanover High School, The Hanover Hawks (George Sadler, Bobby Stratton, Stephanie Shea, Leslie Stargardt). The second place trophies went to the Atlee Rolling Raiders from Atlee High School (Ryan Brugger, Logan Smith, Eric Leise, Scott Csoke). The third place trophy went to Rural Point Elementary School, The Rural Point Rollers (Rueben Albright, Jonice Albright, Chip Tuck, Jason Byrd). Scott Csoke, from Altee High School, received the trophy for highest score in a game for a male, and Cheryl Lane from Stonewall Jackson Middle School received the trophy for highest score in a game for a female. The HEF Bowl-for-Education was excited to add a new award this year called the School Spirit Award. The winners were from Cold Harbor Elementary School. According to Margaret Hill, Executive Director of the HEF, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the event. “Thanks to all of the business support we received this year. This was the largest tournament we have had,” said Ms. Hill. “It’s always great to see folks having a good time at an event that benefits our students,” she said. This event would not be possible without the continued support of our many sponsors. For the seventh year, the tournament was divided into two flights raising $33,481 to support Hanover County Public Schools.
