What a <strong>weekend</strong> we had! Wind, snow, more<br />
wind, and bone-c<strong>hi</strong>lling cold! Thankfully we were<br />
indoors but the wind never stopped for the entire<br />
<strong>weekend</strong>. The sun finally put in an appearance<br />
Sunday afternoon, but it was still much colder<br />
than our early shows in previous years.<br />
I'm not sure if it was cabin fever w<strong>hi</strong>ch made<br />
folks come out, or they just wanted to get an<br />
early start on the show season. Whatever the<br />
reason it was sure nice seeing everyone after t<strong>hi</strong>s<br />
miserable winter. We had slick and s<strong>hi</strong>ny horses<br />
and we had some pretty wooly ones, too. It was<br />
surprising, but we didn't have one bronc in the<br />
bunch. Well, maybe one, but she got over it<br />
nicely.<br />
There are many folks to thank who helped out<br />
on both Saturday and Sunday but I'd particularly<br />
like to thank a few:<br />
Heather Gallo sold her horse, Zipped C<strong>hi</strong>p,<br />
but came to help out. She did so by announcing<br />
on Saturday. Sheree Sims, from Illinois, took<br />
over the mike from Heather and both did a<br />
wonderful job. Are either <strong>of</strong> you for <strong>hi</strong>re?<br />
Shelly & Kristi Hartzell received a crash<br />
course in setting up the timed events, with the<br />
help <strong>of</strong> Jamie Knabe. Donnie Ray Schomberg<br />
and mom, Lesa, helped out in the arena and the<br />
<strong>of</strong>fice. Steve and Stephanie Butler were in the<br />
<strong>of</strong>fice most <strong>of</strong> the <strong>weekend</strong> and did a great job.<br />
As always, Barb Swearingen and Tina Dawson<br />
worked hard in the arena. Shelly, Donnie Ray,<br />
Rebecca Radford and several others worked as<br />
scribes for the judges.<br />
Newcomer Cheri Rieckh<strong>of</strong>f turned back cattle<br />
for the cutters & her family worked the gates<br />
during timed events. Larry Tippit handled the<br />
cattle and, as usually, kept everyone entertained<br />
and educated during the cutting Don, Kevin &<br />
Shelby Crawford worked gates and just about<br />
anywhere else their help was needed (mom had<br />
lost her voice and I hope she's feeling better).<br />
Steve Butler and Kathy Solomon stuck around to<br />
help anyone needing assistance overnight in the<br />
stall barn. Kathy also helped in the <strong>of</strong>fice. And,<br />
as always, Gayle Bieganowski worked between<br />
classes. Thanks to Gayle, Tina & Barb for helping<br />
me pack up the <strong>of</strong>fice, ribbons, bulletin boards,<br />
tack stall, and Skip at the end <strong>of</strong> the show.<br />
The work roster was full to overflowing. A big<br />
THANK YOU to everyone!!<br />

preparation for our June shows. These included<br />
some cutters and some foundation quarter horse<br />

know everyone will make them welcome.<br />

2006 Year End Awards were presented at the<br />
meeting Friday evening (pictured above).<br />
Thanks to all who attended. We discussed<br />
several possible ideas for increasing participation<br />
& sponsors<strong>hi</strong>ps for our shows and also the<br />
possibility <strong>of</strong> a combined multi-breed futurity<br />
show.<br />
In the two weeks since the show the Board<br />
Members and Show Committee have been very<br />
busy. Emails have been flying back and forth<br />
and we t<strong>hi</strong>nk we've come up with some pretty<br />
good ideas.<br />
Our next show is June 9 & 10 at Lucky J.<br />
We are <strong>of</strong>fering a number <strong>of</strong> FREE classes that<br />
you can pick for yourself, special <strong>weekend</strong> rate<br />
and some pretty entertaining games, as well as a<br />
tailgate party and swap meet. More information<br />
will be available soon. In the meantime please<br />
help us spread the word about our shows and<br />
invite everyone you know to attend. The more<br />
stalls we fill, the more likely we are to get the<br />
future dates we request.<br />
