Planning Driver<br />

This driver examines organizational planning processes <strong>and</strong> how performance is<br />

measured <strong>and</strong> evaluated to assess progress <strong>and</strong> outcomes (19).<br />

What is the Issue?<br />

The program review completed in 2011 set priorities for the OPHS program<br />

requirements based on need <strong>and</strong> impact data, however an ongoing way to<br />

link priorities with resources is required. There is inconsistent use of data <strong>and</strong><br />

evidence for planning <strong>and</strong> a lack of integration of the foundational st<strong>and</strong>ard<br />

throughout the programs. There is a need for information systems <strong>and</strong> clear<br />

processes/tools to meet accountability <strong>and</strong> public reporting requirements from<br />

the province <strong>and</strong> as identified in the Organizational St<strong>and</strong>ards.<br />

Goal:<br />

Public health planning <strong>and</strong> practice that responds efficiently <strong>and</strong> effectively to<br />

current <strong>and</strong> evolving conditions.<br />

Strategies:<br />

<br />

Develop <strong>and</strong> implement a planning framework for use throughout<br />

the organization, including health equity framework <strong>and</strong> tools <strong>and</strong><br />

foundational st<strong>and</strong>ard integrating mechanisms.<br />

Develop <strong>and</strong> implement a performance management & accountability<br />

strategy, using the Results-Based Accountability (RBA) framework,<br />

considering Accountability Agreements <strong>and</strong> Accreditation requirements.<br />
