Harford County Public Schools – State Discretionary Grant – AYP FY 10 LOGIC MODEL PROBLEM SUBPROBLEM(S) ACTIVITIES OUTPUT MEASURES OUTCOME MEASURES SWD at three elementary & five middle schools participating in Math MSA have not met with a consistent level of success and the performance gap between general and special education student achievement continues to persist and widen. Teachers are in need of an increased understanding of comprehensive, technologysupported approach designed to promote collaboration between general and special educators and facilitate access to and success in the general education curriculum among SWD. Goal(s) Goal #1: HCPS will increase the knowledge of general and special educators at the targeted schools through the regular delivery of highquality, targeted professional development and job-embedded coaching related to effective differentiated instruction utilizing Boundless Learning. Goal #2: HCPS will implement SuccessMaker as a mathematics intervention program at the targeted schools to supplement core instruction and improve student performance on the Mathematics MSA. Goal #3: HCPS will increase the capacity of general and special educators at the targeted schools to provide high-quality, differentiated, and rigorous instruction through an effective system of co-planning and Delivery of high quality rigorous instruction is inconsistent due to varying degree of: The need for teacher-focused interventions re: co-teaching, DI, technology integration and peer-assisted learning. Increase the percentage of SWD achieving AYP through the use of instructional and other accommodations, supplementary aids and services, research-based instructional strategies, and modifications to the delivery and response to the general education. Improve models for delivering instruction, such as coteaching to SWD that promote access to the general curriculum and enable students to meet state standards. Professional Development: Boundless Learning Co-Teaching Fellows SuccessMaker Number of teachers who participate in professional development activities Number of hours of professional development offered Number of hours of observation, coaching and feedback for fidelity of implementation of Boundless Learning and HCPS curriculum Number of students participating in the co-taught Math classes Number of students completing 10 or more hours of SuccessMaker Comparison of students completing 10 or more hours of SuccessMaker and proficiency on MSA Short Term By the end of the grant, HCPS will increase the percentage of SWD scoring proficient on the Mathematics MSA. Long Term The project manager will report results of the project initiative to the HCPS leadership to determine the efficacy of the project based on collected data.
