Introduction
People who have legally entered Australia as migrants or refugees may be eligible for a variety of assistance through Government
and Community organisations. These services include Health Care, Citizenship, Housing and Crisis Accommodation, Domestic
Violence and Family Services, Court Support, English classes, Employment and Financial Assistance and more. To find out if you
are eligible for assistance you need to contact the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) on their enquiry line 131 881.

The Australian Government is the only body that can remove a person from Australia. If you are experiencing domestic violence or
a being threatened with deportation by a spouse you should contact DIAC and your local Police.
