Objective 2.4: Provide bicycle racks within Greenleaf Park
A key component to the fulfillment of Goal 2 is providing not only a safer but a
“friendlier” atmosphere for cyclists in Greenleaf Terrace. Creating this atmosphere
requires supplying cyclists with amenities that make it easier for them to take full
advantage of the recreational possibilities that exist within the neighborhood.

The installation of a bicycle rack in Greenleaf Park is recommended to provide a safe and
secure location for cyclists to stow bicycles while they enjoy park amenities. The rack
should be installed in an area with a clear line of sight to the park entrance, both for
safety purposes and to ensure the rack is easily spotted by entering cyclists.
Objective Implementation:
The City of Charlottesville should, through a cyclist usage survey, determine the
appropriate size for the rack/racks. Through the use of the same survey, the best
placement of the rack/racks can be determined (adjacent to restrooms, drinking fountain,
etc.). The design of the rack should be unobtrusive and should compliment rather than
detract from the appearance of the park.
