DESCRIPTION OF TRANSPORTATION PLAN
The proposed transportation improvements this Plan offers are derived out of this
analysis of existing conditions, from recommendations presented in the studies:
“Bicycle Plan Implementation Strategies”, based on the County’s Comprehensive
Plan, and “Goochland County Courthouse Village Plan – Phase II”, prepared by
the Richmond Regional PDC, and citizen feedback regarding these
recommendations. Included in the Future Transportation Facilities map is a
proposed expanded trails network throughout the Village as well as potential
road connections.
Trails System
Shown in black and yellow is an interconnected system of trails to provide
uninterrupted pedestrian and other non-vehicular access throughout the Village.
Some of this proposed network already exists as sidewalks along stretches of
Route 6/522 in the center of the Village. In addition to constructing sidewalks
along main roads, this Plan calls for the building of asphalt or gravel bike trails,
which would allow riders, walkers and joggers access along Courthouse Creek
through existing and proposed parks.
