Implementation
Goochland County Planning staff should petition to the Board of Supervisors to
adopt transportation recommendations presented in this Future Transportation
Facilities Map and amend the Comprehensive Plan to include these changes.
Goochland County should offer incentives such as tax abatements to encourage
private developers to contribute to the trails network.
The County may also seek Transportation Enhancement Project or other Funds
to finance bicycle improvements. A list of funding sources with regards to
transportation improvements is provided below.
Timeline: July 2006 – July 2007
Goal 8: Traffic calming measures ensure a safe and friendly
pedestrian atmosphere through the central core of the Village
Objective 8.1: The speed limit along Sandy Hook/River Road will be reduced to
30 miles per hour
Implementation
Goochland County Planning staff should recommend to the Board of Supervisors
to petition VDOT to study the feasibility of changing the speed limit along this
stretch of road.
Timeline: July 2006 – July 2007
Goal 9: Sufficient Parking exists in the mixed-use core of the
Village
Objective 9.1: On-street parking will be permitted along Sandy Hook/River Road
Objective 9.2: Property owners are encouraged to provide off-street parking to
the rear of businesses along rt. 6/522
Implementation
Goochland County Planning staff should petition to the Board of Supervisors to
adopt a Village Parking Ordinance in to the County’s zoning ordinance to allow
for on-street parking along Rt. 6/522.
