The Application and Site<br />

12.1 The application site is situated within the grounds of the St. Hild’s School and<br />

adjacent to St. John Vianney Primary School.<br />

12.2 It is proposed to locate a detached single storey classroom, known as Space to<br />

Learn between the two schools fronting onto King Oswy Drive, which is currently a<br />

tarmac area. The classroom is proposed to sit forward of both schools so that it is<br />

visible to pedestrians and vehicles using King Oswy Drive.<br />

12.3 Space to Learn will act as a satellite facility for all schools in the area during the<br />

Building Schools for the Future project and the Primary Capital Programme and also<br />

a focal point for community interaction.<br />

12.4 Once the Space to Learn’s role within the Building School for the Future project<br />

and Primary Capital Programme has come to an end the space will revert to being<br />

used by St. Hild’s and St. John Vianney’s schools, but continue its role within the<br />

community.<br />

Publicity<br />

12.5 The application has been advertised by way of neighbour letters (146), site<br />

notice and press notice. To date, there have been 11 letters of no objection<br />

12.6 The period for publicity expires after the Planning Committee.<br />

12.7 The following consultation replies have been received:<br />

Public Protection – no objection<br />

Property Services – no objection<br />

Engineering Consultancy – no objection subject to standard contamination<br />

condition.<br />
