Consultations<br />
15.7 The following consultation replies have been received:<br />
Public Protection – no objection.<br />
Engineering Consultancy – no objection but recommends consultation with<br />
Northumbrian Water.<br />
Adult and Community Services – the proposal is a positive development with the<br />
potential for more people to stay in the area, who could make good use of and enjoy<br />
the facilities provided.<br />
Traffic and Transportation – the development will not have major impact on the<br />
existing parking situation. There are no major highway implications with this<br />
application.<br />
Cleveland Police – comments regarding secured by design<br />
Northumbrian Water – no objection subject to a condition requiring the final details<br />
for a foul and surface water scheme to be submitted for consideration.<br />
Tees Valley Regeneration – comments relating to the need to ensure that<br />
consideration is given to the impact that this hotel extension may have on the future<br />
requirements for a hotel at Victoria Harbour. However it is recognised by TVR that<br />
the difference in grade of hotel to be provided and timescales for delivery should<br />
have minimal impact on viability of a hotel at Victoria Harbour.<br />
One North East – welcomes the proposal and, subject to the satisfactory resolution<br />
of any environmental issues, has no objection to the development.<br />
Natural England – no objection and commends the developers on the rigorous<br />
environmental assessment of the scheme they provided.<br />

15.8 The following policies in the adopted <strong>Hartlepool</strong> Local Plan 2006 are relevant<br />
to the determination of this application:<br />
Com4: Defines 10 edge of town centre areas and indicates generally which range of<br />
uses are either acceptable or unacceptable within each area particularly with regard<br />
to A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, B1, B2, & B8 and D1 uses. Proposals should also accord<br />
with related shopping, main town centre uses and recreational policies contained in<br />
the plan. Any proposed uses not specified in the policy will be considered on their<br />
