• open 120 beds at the University Hospital of North Tees to make sure<br />

we have enough beds and staff to look after patients from right across<br />

our area;<br />

• make extra space in critical care so we can look after critically ill<br />

patients;<br />

• then, gradually, close the beds in medicine and critical care at the<br />

University Hospital of <strong>Hartlepool</strong>,<br />

• and transfer a number of staff from support services such as pharmacy,<br />

radiology and pharmacy and estates that need to come to the University<br />

Hospital of North Tees to support the new arrangements.<br />

2.9 The consultation (consultation document and engagement plan are attached at<br />

Appendix B) aims to get the views on the proposals and to understand<br />

concerns about the proposed changes. To do so it asks:-<br />

i) What do you think are the advantages and the difficulties (or<br />

disadvantages) of the proposed changes?<br />

ii) If you still have concerns, what are you most concerned about and how<br />

could we help to reduce your concerns?<br />

iii) What do you think are the main things we need to consider in putting the<br />

proposed changes in place?<br />

iv) Is there anything else you think we need to think about?<br />

2.10 The following representatives have been invited along to this meeting:<br />

- North Tees and <strong>Hartlepool</strong> Foundation Trust<br />

- <strong>Hartlepool</strong> and Stockton Clinical Commissioning Group<br />

- Durham, Dales, Easington and Sedgefield Clinical Commissioning Group<br />

- <strong>Health</strong>watch from Durham, <strong>Hartlepool</strong> and Stockton<br />

- Representation from the NCAT Team<br />

- North East Ambulance Service<br />

- Social Services – representative from each Local Authority<br />

2.11 The evidence and information requested for consideration at this meeting is as<br />

follows (the information will be provided for consideration at the meeting):<br />

- Consultation document and Engagement Plan<br />

- NCAT Report<br />

- Impact on Durham, <strong>Hartlepool</strong> and Stockton residents including the:-<br />

(i) numbers of people presenting at <strong>Hartlepool</strong> and North Tees Hospitals<br />

from each area<br />

(ii) current and future capacity at <strong>Hartlepool</strong> and North Tees Hospitals<br />
