Naturally your Will must take care of
your loved ones first.
After remembering your family and
friends, in making a gift in your will
to the HPS you can help us to
continue the timeless benefits which
plants and gardens confer
Making a legacy to the Society is a
straightforward matter, and if you
prefer, your support can be directed
towards your favourites,
conservation, local Group support,
education & the bursary, National
Events, Shows, the Seed Distribution
or what you wish.
And as we are a charity your legacy
would not attract taxation as part of your
estate. We have set out three possible
approaches below which you will find
helpful. Our Secretary, Elaine will be

HAPPY DAYS

There are several ways in
which you can help the
Society with a legacy, but
your preferred way needs to
be included in your Will. If
you have already made a will
you need simply to ask your
solicitor to add a short
statement. It is quite
important to get the wording
right so that it states clearly
what you wish to happen.
If you are making a Will for
the first time simply ask the
solicitor to include the
statement which best suits
your intentions.
HPS at CHELSEA,
We have set out three forms of wording to cover three different sorts of
intention. It will assist the solicitor who is helping you with your Will if you take a
‘print out’ or a copy of one of these when you discuss your legacy. The Society
can arrange for a suitable inscription in our Book of Benefactors in each case.
THE FIXED SUM LEGACY
“I give to the Hardy Plant Society, registered
charity number 208080, 15, Basepoint
Business Centre, Crab Apple Way, Evesham,
WR11 1GP, the sum of £…… and I direct (i)
that the proceeds may be used for the general
purposes (*)
of the Hardy Plant Society, and
(ii) that a receipt signed by a person for the
time being authorised by the Trustees of the
Hardy Plant Society shall be a good and
sufficient discharge to my executors”
(*) We would prefer the direction to the
general purposes of the Society but you can
insert a specific area of our activity ity if you so
wish.

LEGACY FOR PART OF THE NET
ESTATE
PLANT IDENTIFICATION COURSE
“I give to the Hardy Plant Society,
registered charity number 208080, 15,
Basepoint Business Centre, WR11 1GP, a
….. percentage share of my estate
absolutely, and I direct (i) that the
proceeds may be used for the general
purposes (*)
of the Hardy Plant Society,

GIFTS IN MEMORIAM

flowers at my funeral, donations are made to the

Many people prefer to see
donations made to the HPS in lieu
of floral tributes. If this is stated in
your Will and known to your
executors, they can make sure that
your wishes are followed. The
wording alongside will ensure that
your wishes are met.
