Dear Breeder, 

We are proud to present to you our 2011 stallion brochure. 

In February of this year, Numero Uno was bestowed with the predicate “Preferent” 

by the KWPN. This fantastic stallion has now firmly stepped into the legacy left to 

him by his famous father Libero H. Numero Uno could not have attained this 

tremendous honour without those breeders that took the initiative to use him 

during his first few years as a breeding stallion. Numero Uno has once again made 

a big leap in the WBFSH ranking (2010: 11th). His first crop of offspring has been 

extremely successful at international showjumping events. Horses such as Tamino 

(Marc Houtzager), Tyson (Leon Thijssen), Take Off (Eric Lamaze), Tosca (Margie 

Engle), Take One (Christine Mccrea), Unaniem (Ben Schröder) and Urgent (Steve 

Guerdat) are just a few of the Numero Uno offspring that are very successful in 

Grand Prix showjumping today. 

Offspring of our stallions are commanding attention on the international 

showjumping scene. Of all combinations competing in the Grand Prix at CS14* 

Amsterdam, 25% were a product of a stallion that is or was offered by Wiemselbach. 

In the jump off four of the six horses were sired by Wiemselbach stallions. 

Other examples are Olympic Champion Hickstead (s. Hamlet) and the recent World 

Champion Lambrasco (s. Libero H). 

Merited solely to the tireless efforts of our top rider Caroline Müller, our younger 

stallions continue to improve and advance. Upgrade, Ustinov, Chellthago, Van 

Gogh and Whitaker have been successful at international shows and will 

continue to compete at the international level, jumping Grand Prix in 2011. 

Our new stallion, the very interestingly bred Back Gammon, has obtained 

his first important victory by convincingly winning the young horse 

championship at the CSI4* Showjumping event in Geesteren, the 

Netherlands. 

In order to help counteract the effects of the current economic climate, 

we will be increasing our competition dates in 2011, in order to enhance 

the profile of our stallions on the international stage. This in turn will 

create more awareness for their offspring which will increase the market 

value for breeders. 

By offering you these carefully selected stallions that are bred out of the best 

European bloodlines, we hope to welcome you as our customer for this year’s

De Wiemselbach offers you stallions out of the best and most 

interesting European bloodlines. At our stable we breed our own mares 

on a small scale and every year we purchase foals who 

will be produced and trained for a show jumping career at ‘ 

‘De Wiemselbach’’. A great number of these foals have been 

approved for breeding in the past. Well known names are; Derrick, 

Daimler, Cavalier, Iowa, Lupicor, Mine Star, Liberty, Nairobi, Nijinski, 

Numero Uno, Ultime Espoir, Vincenzo, Van Gogh, L’Esprit, Whitaker and 

Back Gammon.

At De Wiemselbach sport and breeding go hand in hand. Horses from 

our stable are sold all over the world, and Stal Horn is one of the most 

competitive show jumping stables in the Netherlands.

Numero Uno completed his performance test 

triumphantly: he received a 9.0 for canter and scored 

an average of 8.5 for jumping components. His 

explosive takeoff earned him 9.0 points.Dam Jolanda, 

like the Olympic showjumping stallion Lux, descends 

from Lord Calando. Grand dam Feinschnit 

(Ahornhann) supplied, in combination with Gondelier, 

the national showjumping horse Kapitol, who as a 

five year- old gave an excellent performance in the 

world championships for young horses at Lanaken. 

The mother line continues via the well known stallion 

Farnese to the mare Fernsicht (Ladykiller xx), who is 

a full sister to the reputable stallion Lorenz. This Tyson (s. Numero Uno) 

famous Holstein lineage, which is registered under 

number 429, also produced the stallions Aldato (Anblick xx), Heidelberg 

(Ladykiller xx) and Benedictus (Benvenuto xx). Following a successful show 

jumping career with European Champion, Marco Kutscher, Numero Uno 

(pref) today has proven himself to be one of the leading sires in the world. 

Numero Uno, father to six approved KWPN stallions, is sire to many 

champions in international show jumping, ability tests and stallion approvals.

Lupicor is bred out of the ‘keur’ awarded 

Jourdette S, a daughter of the Westphalian 

show jumping horse progenitor Pilot. 

Jourdette S made a worthy career for herself in 

show jumping, competing at national and 

international levels. The mare has an excellent 

technique and is very careful. The KWPN has 

approved the stallion Pitcher S, who jumps the 

national competitions and is a full brother to 

Jourdette S. The same dam line also produced 

the international show jumper El Padrino 

(s. Jasper) and belongs to one of the best 

Levito (s. Lupicor) 

breeding lines in The Netherlands. Lupicor is in 

the top of the German breeding indexes and belongs to the best 

stallions in Europe. He is sire to the 2006 KWPN stallion champion 

L’Esprit (Lupicor x Landgraf I) and Levito, one of the most talented 

showjumping horses of our time. Ridden by German rider Lars 

Nieberg this combination has been very successful in numerous 

Grand Prix competitions.

Upgrade 

HEARTBREAKER x PILOT x FRÜHLING

Upgrade is a beautifully modelled son of the 

well known showjumping stallion Heartbreaker. 

In his performance test Upgrade 

impressed with his powerful jump and super 

hind technique. In addition, this stallion 

displayed superb movement, in walk, trot and 

canter. In the pedigree of Upgrade the genes of 

Heartbreaker are combined with those of the 

Westphalian mare Palette, a daughter of the 

famous Pilot. This son of Pilatus is the top 

stallion in Westphalia and has produced many 

international showjumping horses and licensed 

stallions. The dam line of Upgrade has its 

Upgrade CSIO 5* Rome 

origins in Westphalia. Great-granddam Madame 

is a half sister to the Westphalian stallion Glücksritter (s. Grünhorn). 

Upgrade presented his first foals to the public in 2006. The offspring 

report praises Upgrade’s foals for their correct exterior, their 

expression and their superb movements. Currently Upgrade is 

proving to be very successful with Caroline Müller in the Grand Prix 

ring. The combination obtained good results in respected shows 

such as CSIO 5* Rome (I), CSIO 5* Rotterdam (NL), Zwolle (NED) and

Ustinov’s great exterior and jumping qualities are 

deeply anchored in his pedigree. His sire is the 

showjumping horse producer Libero H, a legend 

in his lifetime. Together with Jos Lansink this son 

of Landgraf I won a respectable series of World 

Cup competitions and Grand Prix, the highlight 

being his fantastic victory of the ‘s-Hertogenbosch 

World Cup finals in 1994. His fighting spirit in 

combination with his jumping skills and incredible 

reflexes made the stallion almost unbeatable that 

season. In total Libero H has less than 600 

registered offspring, more than 80 of these are or 

have been competing at 1.50m or higher 

Born to be Wild (s. Ustinov) 

in international competition. It is worth 

noting that many of his internationally successful offspring also carry 

the blood of Nimmerdor. This fact makes Ustinov’s pedigree even more 

interesting, as he also carries the blood of Nimmerdor on his dam’s 

side. Within his age group Ustinov is again ranked number one in the 

KWPN jumping index. With German rider Caroline Müller in the tack, 

Ustinov competed successfully at international shows such as Moorsele 

(B), Münster (D), Verden (D) and Neustadt Dosse (D). Born to be Wild 

(Ustinov x Wolfgang) was named reserve champion at the 2010 Dutch 

young horses championships with rider Rob van Bussel.

Chellthago, one of the best performing horses at the Vion Cup 2009, 

is a son of the very well bred Chellano Z. This son of Contender is 

bred out of a full sister to the stallions Corrado I and Corrado II, and 

competed successfully at Grand Prix level ridden by Jos Lansink 

and EdouardMathé. Chellthago’s mother is Carthaga Z, a daughter of 

the famous breeding stallion Carthago Z (s. Capitol). Carthago Z 

participated with Jos Lansink in two Olympic Games; Sydney (2000) 

and Atlanta (1996). Carthaga Z is also the mother of Quinthago Z 

(s. Quinar), winner of the World Championship for 5 year old horses, 

ridden by Dutch rider Leopold van Asten. Grandmother Inka is registered 

by the BWP studbook as a daughter of Romeo (G.Ramiro Z 

x Remus). Further on in the dam line there are daughters of Goldfalk 

(Grande x Frustra II), Alcanar xx and Flügel van la Roche. This dam 

line also produced the international showjumper Aerial who, ridden

Backgammon is the first KWPN approved stallion by the legendary 

jumping stallion Montender. Montender (Contender x Burggraaf) 

was successful in World Cup classes, Nations Cup and Grand 

Prix competitions. At the Athens Olympic Games ridden by Marco 

Kutscher he jumped a double clear in the nation’s cup, winning 

both a team and individual bronze medal. At the 2005 European 

championships in San Patrignano he won two gold medals, team 

and individual. 

Backgammon’s mother Paloma, is a keur mare by Heartbreaker. 

The beautiful and appealing keur preferent mare Kyra performed 

very well at the mare performance test and just like the famous 

show jumper Joël (Gert-Jan Bruggink) she is an offspring of Ekstein 

(s. Zion). Kyra is also a full sister to the international show jumper 

Ivar, and mother to the approved KWPN stallion Vincenzo as 

well as former international jumper Otto (s. Peter Pan). 

This dam line brings, among others, the approved stallion Toulon 

(s. Heartbreaker) as well as international jumpers such as Illusion, 

Looping, Pontiac, Sundance Kid and the legendary Okidoki.

This son of Lux Z is one of the most successful horses of today in the 

international showjumping ring. Piloted by Swedish showjumping 

rider Malin Bayard, this spectacular bay stallion placed at the World 

Cup shows of Olso, Helsinki and Vigo this season. The combination 

was also part of the winning Team at the 2010 Flasterbo Top League 

Nations Cup. 

Tornesch’s excellent pedigree goes back to three of the world’s best 

stallions in a row: Lux Z, Libero H and Caletto I. 

In Tornesch’s dam line we find among others the international 

showjumping horses Lennox and Pinkfloyd de Maibelle. The first 

offspring of Tornesch produced the Swedish approved stallion 

Turmalin (Tornesch x Cortez), who at this moment belongs to the 

most talented horses in Sweden.

The dark bay stallion Whitaker is the first son of Clinton to be approved 

by the KWPN. Clinton is a son of Corrado I and achieved great 

success with the Belgium rider Dirk Demeersman. 

Highlights in his show jumping career were a 4th individual ranking 

at the 2004 Athens Olympics and a 2nd place in the 2005 Aachen 

Grand-Prix. The mother of Whitaker is a daughter of the well known 

preferent stallion Indoctro. She is also mother to the mare Umatilla 

(s. Lupicor) who won the 2007 Hippiade Championships in Holland. 

Via the stallion Admiraal Z the motherline continues with the 

beautiful mare Filly (s. Wendekreis) who has been honoured twice 

as the winner of the Belgium National mare championships. 

In addition we find a well known English thoroughbred family 

going all the way back to the 17th century. The beautiful Whitaker, 

jumping champion of the 2006 KWPN ability test, was praised 

because of his positive attitude and good character. This expressive 

son of Clinton also received recognition for his tremendous 

jumping abilities. Technique and general jumping manners were 

rewarded with 8.0, scope and canter were awarded with 8.5 points. 

After having received an excellent offspring report in 2008, Whitaker 

has commanded attention with the showing of his two year old 

stallion offsprings at the KWPN stallion event 2011. Offspring by 

Whitaker have excellent conformation and strong movement 

combined with great expressions.

Van Gogh was the undisputed KWPN performance test champion of 

2005. During the last 6 years no other KWPN stallion has received as 

many points as Van Gogh at his performance test. This son of Numero 

Uno was not only rewarded for his great jumping skills but also his 

fantastic movement. Take off and technique was rewarded with 8.5, 

scope with 9.0 and his incredible canter with 9.5. The stallion performance 

test report states that Van Gogh shows strong movement in 

walk, trot and canter, that he jumps with a good take-off and develops 

lots of scope. 

The dam line of Van Gogh originates at the mare Miesje. In addition 

to Van Gogh’s successful full sisters, this breeding family produced 

several international showjumping and dressage horses. Some 

examples are: Zhivago (s. Krack C), Cocktail (s. Purioso), Everest 

(s. Zeoliet) and Der Senaat III (s. President). 

Van Gogh is ranked in the top 5 of the KWPN jumping index 2011. 

At the 2011 KWPN stallion approvals in Den Bosch the stallion Diablo 

(Van Gogh x Naturel) was one of the best jumping stallions. Van Gogh 

made his Grand Prix debut in 2010 and will again be competing at 

international showjumping events in 2011.

Solitair is a jumping talent with super movement 

and very appealing conformation. At his 

performance test in Ermelo he received an 

8.5 for his canter and for walk, trot and talent, 

three 8.0’s. His sire Voltaire (s. Furioso II) 

jumped internationally at the highest level of 

sport with Jos Lansink and Emile Hendrix 

and belongs among the best stallions in the 

world. Solitair was bred out of Nigrante, a 

Sir Adelante (s. Solitair) 

beautiful daughter of the legendary Holsteiner 

stallion Libero H. This mare not only received high recommendations by the 

KWPN approval committee but has also produced the International show jumper 

Triviant (David Quigley). Solitair’s dam line carries a large amount of blood 

through the influential stallions Abgar xx and Pericles xx. This lineage also produced 

several licensed stallions as well as the Grand Prix jumper Figaro (Leslie 

Steele). Offspring of Solitair are well known for their ride-ability,scope and

old gelding Zamoerai (Solitair x Kalusha) belongs to the most talented young

L’Esprit 

LUPICOR x LANDGRAF I x CALVADOS 

KWPN 03.02660, 1.69 m, bay, 2003

This beautiful son of Lupicor became the sensation at the 2006 

KWPN stallion approval. His appearance, behaviour, movements 

and jumping qualities made him stand out and earned him the title 

KWPN stallion champion 2006. L’Esprit is bred out of the Holsteiner 

keur mare Hera O (s. Landgraf I) who received very high marks 

during her mare performance test. The line goes back to the 

Holsteiner stallions Calvados and Rinaldo (Stamm 4847). Out of this 

breeding line the famous stallions Lancer I and II, Lados and Hinault 

originate. In addition several international show jumping horses are 

bred out of this line. Some examples are: Cher (Piet Raaymakers), 

Classic Woman (Markus Renzel), White Jumper (Ben Schröder) and 

Carlos Boy (Ken Berkley). 

L’Esprit is approved by both the Westphalian Studbook and the 

KWPN studbook, and presented his first offspring last year. 

Foals from L’Esprit have excellent conformation in combination with 

powerful movements. During the preliminary rounds at the KWPN 

stallion approvals a stunning number of five out of seven stallions by 

L’Esprit were invited for the main event in Den Bosch. 

L’Esprit is currently competing at international showjumping events 

with Caroline Müller.
