road in foreign countries between the auctions. The latest riding clinics were held in Italy and
Finland.

Dressage in Italy
Customer advisor Jeanine Pagel visited clients
and held a small dressage clinic in northern
Italy mid March where spring maked an
early entry. Francesca Pasini who is a loyal
auction customer was the initiator. In addition
to her profession as a dentist she is very
passionate about horses. She bought a charming
black mare by Desperados/Metternich
on the winter auction in 2012 that successfully
competes in dressage in Italy. Contrary
to the sport of jumping dressage is viewed as
a “side business” in Italy. Accordingly only a
few, very ambitious and interested participants
took the opportunity to ride in the clinic.
Next on the agenda was an important visit to
a wonderful client called Adriana Foti who is
building a luxurious riding-facility near Milan.
Adriana Foti has bought a total of 16 Hanoverians
including expensive foals and broodmares
as well as several Elite Auction horses
over the past years. She presented every horse
with great pride and asked for help in planning
her breeding program. Customer
Arctic training
He who believes that people in Finland hibernate
because of arctic temperatures is broadly
mistaken. The Hanoverian Club Finland offers
its members, breeders, buyers and other
interested equestrians the opportunity to
work with Steffen Werner from the Hanoverian
Association multiple times per year. The
riders try to reach and confirm their training
goals during these training weekends.
Twenty riders took the opportunity to travel
to the facility of Sanna Raitikainnen in March.
It is about 50 kilometers north of Helsinki.12

too. Equine enthusiasts did not mind
traveling 150 kilometers to participate in this
event; it was organized in an indoor arena
with guest box stalls and a hotel nearby.

The quality of the participating horses was
good overall; some were trained to M-level in
dressage, others were competing in young
horse jumper classes. Pia Karhu who is the
President of the Club Finland and Sanna Raitikainnen
have organized this event for the
seventh time now. The number of participants
did not suffer because of temperatures
of minus 23 degrees Celsius; that speaks for
itself.
The clinic centreed around an intense
training’s program in dressage and jumping
with a supplementary training’s plan to prepare
for the outdoor show season. The advice
on a regular basis is much appreciated. Several
groups are planning a visit to one of
