One Day Event (unofficial)
Sunday 29th October
Bungendore Show Ground
Members and volunteer helpers gathered at the
showground on the Saturday to tend to the huge
task of setting up all the equipment. As this was
achieved in record time, thanks to the extra “Man
Power” this year; we had a chance to stop for
cake and champagne to celebrate Tanya’s birthday.
The Sponsorship display, Dressage arenas,
Show jumping rings and Cross Country course
looked fantastic!!
We received a record number of 89 entries for
the event on Sunday with a lovely turn out of ponies
and horses.
There was plenty of hustle and bustle in the
morning as the competitors madly plaited,
trimmed and added the final touches to have their
horses looking spectacular for the dressage. Oh!
And a few of the riders scrubbed up pretty well to!
The Event started with dressage, then show
jumping and finally the biggest adrenalin rush,
the cross country!! There were plenty of “thrills”
but no “spills”! It was a fantastic day!!!
Thank you to EVERYONE who volunteered their
time. A huge thanks to our Coordinator, Marty
Walsh and the ODE Committee for all their time
and effort. The event was a great success!
Check out the fabulous Photos!
Thanks to All Creatures for doing such a
wonderful job.
NATIONAL CAPITAL
HORSE TRIALS AS-
SOCIATION
2006 Horseland Eventer
Trial
Sunday 17 December 2006
At Equestrian Park, Yarralumla, ACT
Entries close Wednesday 29 November 2006
(Late entries may be accepted at the discretion of the organisers but must be accompanied by a fee of $10 per class)
The first competition will be a pairs cross country. The course will be quite short, with the fences having
various height options so that all pairs can be catered for. There will be three “dressing fences”
which the two horses must jump as a pair (ie side by side). Points will be given for these fences and penalties
deducted for refusals and falls. There will also be an optimum time. The winning pair will be the
one that goes clear with the most points for style over the dressing fences. In the event of a tie, the winner
will be the pair closest to (and under) the optimum time.
The other competitions will be the Eventer Trials. They will consist of a round of showjumping followed
immediately by a timed obstacle course (testing the all round handiness of the horse and rider) and
then (immediately again) by a cross country course. There will be four classes: 60cm, 80cm, 95cm and
105cm.
Any horse may compete in the pairs competition as well as up to two of the Eventer Trial competitions.
Prizes will be offered for all events. Ribbons to 8 th place.
Fancy dress is encouraged and there will be a prize for the best fancy-dressed pair. However, please
note that this competition is to be run under the relevant EFA rules. In particular, it is the responsibility
of each competitor to ensure that they wear the correct safety helmet and boots.
Profits from this competition will go into improving the Equestrian Park cross country
course.
For further information about the competition contact Rachel Stephen-Smith on 6288 0098 or
Kate MacKenzie on 6296 6118.
