ARTICLE 10<br />

Shall the <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hampton</strong> raise and appropriate as an operating budget, not including appropriations by<br />

special or individual warrant articles and other appropriations voted separately, the amounts set forth in<br />

the budget posted with the warrant, for the purposes set forth therein, totaling $23,552,795? Should this<br />

article be defeated, the operating budget shall be $23,609,157 which is the same as last year, with certain<br />

adjustments required by previous action <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Town</strong> Meeting or by law, or the governing body may hold<br />

one special meeting, in accordance with RSA 40:13, X and XVI, to take up the issue <strong>of</strong> a revised<br />

operating budget only. Majority vote required.<br />

NOTE: This Warrant Article (Operating Budget) does not include appropriations in ANY other warrant<br />

article.<br />

Frederick Rice <strong>of</strong>fered to amend the article by deleting the amount $23,552,795 and replace it with new<br />

amount <strong>of</strong> $24,328,522.<br />

Seconded by Seppo Kulju.<br />

After much discussion the vote was taken and the Rice amendment passed.<br />

A motion to restrict reconsideration was made by Mr. Barrington and seconded by Mr. Workman. The<br />

motion passed.<br />

ARTICLE 11<br />

Shall the <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hampton</strong> raise and appropriate the sum <strong>of</strong> $574,800 ($459,840 to be funded by<br />

an 80% CMAQ grant and $114,960 to fund the 20% local share) for all costs <strong>of</strong> procurement,<br />

engineering, design, and construction work associated with a bike path / road widening project along<br />

Exeter Road eastward from the <strong>Hampton</strong>-Exeter town line to Interstate Highway 95 and to authorize the<br />

Board <strong>of</strong> Selectmen to accept the grant on behalf <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Town</strong>. The Selectmen will not proceed with this<br />

project unless the grant is received. Majority Vote Required<br />

Mr. Moore <strong>of</strong>fered to amend the article by removing all dollar amounts and replacing them with 0.<br />

Seconded by Mrs. Bridle-Russell<br />

Mr. Moore stated the grant committee was unwilling to move location <strong>of</strong> bike path.<br />

The Moore Amendment passed and all dollar amounts are reduced to zero.<br />
