Alignment 2000, Public
Works and Transportation
Services was created to
consolidate all critical and
operational services
regarding management of
the municipality’s
infrastructure. The
services provided include
Design and Construction
Services, whose main
function is the
coordination of the
Capital Budget, which
entails the evaluation and
prioritization of
infrastructure
requirements, design,
tender call,
construction inspection
and project management;
Traffic and
Transportation Services
are responsible for the
approvals and installation
of traffic control devices,
as well as the planning of
orderly expansion and the
safe, effective operation of
the municipality’s
transportation
network;
Environmental and
Engineering Approval
Services manage the
wastewater and
stormwater infrastructure
by ensuring system
capacity, investigation and
determining solutions to
specific problems,
administering and
enforcing legislation,
drafting, implementing
and amending by-laws,
policies and
procedures;
Street and Roads Services
provide maintenance
services for municipalowned
streets and
sidewalks; Technical and
Underground Services are
responsible for the
maintenance of collection
and transportation of the
wastewater and storm
drainage systems; and
Wastewater Treatment
Services manage the
treatment
of
wastewater at 14 pollution
control plants providing
environment and public
health protection.

Major improvements
to both approaches to the
Angus L. Macdonald
bridge to complement
the additional
bridge lane.
Traffic Signals
Design and
construction of five new
traffic signal installations.
Pollution Prevention
Program
Phase 1 of the
Pollution Prevention
Program (source control)
implemented.
Unpaved Streets
Reinstatement of chipsealing
program for stone
& oil on unpaved streets.
Sewer Lateral Maintenance
Implemented increased
service levels for sewer
lateral maintenance.
Wastewater Treatment
Eastern Passage Water
Pollution Control Plant
