Library
T he Halifax Regional
Library is a corporation,
separate from Halifax
Regional Municipality. It
is accountable to Regional
Council through the
budget review process.
The Library provides
comprehensive, innovative
and responsive public
library service through
branch library facilities,
outreach services (Books
by Mail, Mobile Libraries,
Homebound), materials,
programs, electronic
telecommunication
networks, communications
media, knowledgeable
employees and
partnerships. The Library
provides access to a broad
range of information
resources through a
number of mediums. The
Library is a one-stop
location for information.
Accomplishments
New Library
Planning and design
plans for the new Keshen
Goodman Public Library,
to be located in Clayton
Park, completed and it is
anticipated the facility will
be open in the Fall of 2001.
Community CAP Site
The Jeddore-
Musquodoboit
Community CAP Site was
officially opened.
Y2K Project
Transition to 2000
occurred without any
technical
problems
or service
disruption
to library
users; 138
noncompatible
PCs, hardware
and software were
replaced.
Current Initiatives
New Library
Develop a Tantallon
Branch to open in 2001.
Access
Improve public access
to information technology
and the World Wide Web.
Hours of Operation
Review hours of
operation and develop
proposal for increased and
equitable hours of
operation for all branches
and services.
