The meeting, held at Candlewood Middle School, was called to<br />

order by Mrs. Greenspan at 7:00 p.m.<br />

A Motion was made by Mrs. Bottenus, seconded by Mrs. Sorkin,<br />

and carried unanimously (7-0) to convene into Executive Session<br />

at 7:00 p.m. in order to discuss personnel and contractual issues.<br />

The meeting convened into Open Session at 8:00 p.m.<br />

Mrs. Greenspan commenced the meeting with the Pledge <strong>of</strong><br />

Allegiance.<br />

The Board <strong>of</strong> Education and Administration introduced themselves<br />

to the audience.<br />

Mrs. Greenspan asked for a moment <strong>of</strong> silence in memory <strong>of</strong><br />

Filomena Camilli who was a long time Parapr<strong>of</strong>essional at West<br />

Hollow Middle School. She passed away last week after a long<br />

illness.

Dr. Karnilow recognized the active participation <strong>of</strong> our PTA and is<br />

proud <strong>of</strong> the partnership we have forged with our community. He<br />

Suffolk County Legislature.<br />

As a fellow parent in Half Hollow Hills himself, Mr. Stern thanked<br />

RAFFLE:<br />

Mr. Bob Gordon, President <strong>of</strong> The Hills Foundation, thanked the<br />

Board <strong>of</strong> Education and the Administration for their support<br />

throughout the year. The Hills Foundation is a not-for-pr<strong>of</strong>it<br />

organization that raises money for <strong>education</strong>al purposes in the<br />

community. The Raffle is one <strong>of</strong> their fundraisers and this evening<br />

they will be picking the winners. Mrs. Judy Faber joined Mr.<br />

Gordon and asked Dr. Karnilow and members <strong>of</strong> his staff to pick<br />

the 2007 Hills Foundation Raffle winners:<br />

5/31/07: Letter from the Girl Scouts <strong>of</strong> Suffolk County inviting<br />

the Board to their Silver Award Ceremony on June 15 th .<br />

5/29/07: Letter from St. Matthew Athletics thanking the District<br />

for allowing them to use our gym facilities for their<br />

practices. They delivered a supply <strong>of</strong> St. Matthew<br />

basketballs as a token <strong>of</strong> their appreciation.<br />

Mrs. Bottenus reported that the Facilities Committee, including<br />

Mrs. Greenspan, Mrs. Kaufman, Mr. Ptucha, Mrs. Sorkin, Mr.<br />

Manuel, Mr. Gelo and Mr. Pennacchio, along with Landtek Corp.<br />

and Weidersum Associates, toured the athletic fields at High<br />

School East (in the pouring rain!) to see how exactly they are<br />

going to extend the field width by approximately 20’.<br />

Mrs. Ptucha reported that the Community Awareness Committee<br />

has been discussing the proposed Long Island Truck-Rail<br />

Intermodal Facility. The only Hearing on this project will be held<br />

tomorrow evening, July 19, 2007, at Brentwood Middle School.<br />

Mr. Ptucha encouraged people to attend to learn more about this<br />

project and the health and safety issues that go along with it. Dr.<br />

Karnilow will send a letter to the DOT on be<strong>half</strong> <strong>of</strong> the School<br />

District requesting an additional Hearing to be held within the<br />

District.<br />

Auditorium in High School East.<br />

COOPERATIVE FOOD & SUPPLIES<br />

BID RESOLUTION: A Motion was made by Mr. Marcucci, seconded by Mrs.<br />

Catapano, and carried unanimously (7-0) to approve the attached<br />

Cooperative Food & Supplies Bid Resolution.<br />

EMERGENCY<br />

MANAGEMENT:<br />

WHEREAS in accordance with State Law and the requirements <strong>of</strong><br />

Project SAVE, the Board <strong>of</strong> Education <strong>of</strong> the Half Hollow Hills<br />

Central School District has reviewed the proposed <strong>district</strong>-wide<br />

and building-level <strong>school</strong> safety plans regarding crisis intervention,<br />

emergency response and management developed by the <strong>district</strong>wide<br />

and building-level <strong>school</strong> safety teams, respectively, and has<br />

held a period <strong>of</strong> public comment and a public hearing with respect<br />

to said plans;<br />

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board <strong>of</strong> Education<br />

<strong>of</strong> the Half Hollow Hills Central School District, upon the<br />

recommendation <strong>of</strong> the <strong>district</strong>-wide and building-level <strong>school</strong><br />

safety teams, and after due consideration <strong>of</strong> public comment and<br />

discussion with respect to the proposed plans, hereby adopts the<br />

proposed Comprehensive District-wide School Safety Plan and<br />

Building-Level Emergency Response Plans, and directs the<br />

administration to file copies <strong>of</strong> the <strong>district</strong>-wide plan and any<br />

amendments thereto with the Commissioner <strong>of</strong> Education within<br />

30 days <strong>of</strong> adoption, and to file copies <strong>of</strong> the building- level plans<br />

and any amendments thereto with the state police and local law<br />

enforcement within 30 days <strong>of</strong> adoption.<br />

BE IT RESOLVED that the Board <strong>of</strong> Education <strong>of</strong> the Half<br />

Hollow Hills Central School District approves the Consulting<br />

Services Agreement between Milliman, Inc. and Half Hollow Hills<br />

Central School District at a fee <strong>of</strong> $13,000 for the 2006/2007<br />

<strong>school</strong> year.<br />
