SPRING SEASON TEAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS · Baseball ended another successful season with an overall 204 record. They won the Hammonasset Division Championship, were seeded #1 in both the SCC tournament and Class L CIAC tournament but unfortunately lost in the semifinals of each. They were honored as the Team of the Year by the Southern Connecticut Diamond Club. · Softball finished their season with a 168 overall record. They competed in both the SCC and CIAC tournaments where they won one game in each tournament before losing. · Girl’s Lacrosse completed a fine season with a 138 record. They also won one game in each tournament before losing. · Boy’s Lacrosse had a fine season and finished with a 118 record. They qualified for the SCC tournament and beat Avon in the first round of the CIAC tournament before losing to Conard 1513 in the second round. · Girl’s Tennis ended their season with a 109 record. They played in both the SCC and CIAC tournaments losing to Branford in the SCC’s and beating both Maloney and Suffield in the CIAC tournament before bowing to New Canaan. · Boy’s Tennis finished with a 108 record and finished third in the CIAC Class M Championship. They also won the Hammonasset Championship. · Girl’s Track had an improved season by placing 2 nd in the Hammonasset Division, 7 th in the SCC’s and 10 th in the Class L Championships. Their regular season record was 57. · Boy’s Track finished with a 39 record. · Golf had another successful season where the placed 6 th in the SCC tournament and 12 th in the Division II State tournament. They ended their regular season with a 155 record and captured the Hammonasset Division Championship. · Crew finished their second season as a GHS varsity sport and successfully competed in all their races. IMPACT TESTING At least once during their high school career each student athlete must take a computerized test called Impact (Immediate Post Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) that will be used by our trainer and the student’s doctor to help assess when it is safe to return to play following a head injury. All incoming freshmen who plan on playing a sport anytime during the year are asked to take this test on one of the following dates if possible: August 19 th , 20 th , and 21 st at 9:00 a.m. Other dates will be scheduled if necessary.
