WOOD HAVEN<br />

Pine Grove, PA<br />

Located in southern Schuylkill County on the Swatara Creek, <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Wood</strong> <strong>Haven</strong> provides<br />

200 acres <strong>of</strong> forests, meadows, and protected wetlands. <strong>Wood</strong> <strong>Haven</strong> features a pool for<br />

swimming, low ropes course, climbing wall and a large sports field. <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Wood</strong> <strong>Haven</strong> <strong>of</strong>fers<br />

a selection <strong>of</strong> Horseback Riding Programs, Leadership and Trip Programs.<br />

<strong>Camp</strong>ers may live in a tent, Adirondack shelter or a tree house with three to five other girls.<br />

Each unit (grouping <strong>of</strong> tents or shelters) has a pavilion or unit shelter and electricity. Boating<br />

programs are <strong>of</strong>fered at Sweet Arrow Lake, a 60-acre lake located on 123 acres <strong>of</strong> land 15<br />

minutes from camp. Older girls participate daily in “Choose Your Own Adventure” which<br />

allows them the freedom to choose their own activities. Every Tuesday is Tie-Dye Tuesday! In<br />

addition to themed activities as described, all girls will swim daily, play games, sing songs, make<br />

cool crafts, sleep out, stargaze and have lots <strong>of</strong> fun! Some programs <strong>of</strong>fer multiple sessions<br />

during the summer. All full week programs will choose which badge they would like to earn.<br />

Half Week Programs:<br />

Not all activities will be completed in the half<br />

week programs. Half week programs will run<br />

from Sunday to Tuesday. Pick up time is on<br />

Take a trip out <strong>of</strong> camp to play mini golf<br />

and visit an old fashioned ice cream parlor.<br />

GSEP Adventure<br />

Meet <strong>Girl</strong> <strong>Scouts</strong> from all over the<br />

council during this 2-week program.<br />

Sample some <strong>of</strong> the best activities GSEP<br />

and horseback ride English style at<br />

<strong>Wood</strong> <strong>Haven</strong>, shoot archery and ride<br />

Western at Laughing Waters, climb<br />

high and low ropes at Tohikanee, boat<br />

On the Road<br />

We’re on the road again! Spend the week<br />

going on day trips. Have breakfast at<br />

Shady Maple Smorgasbord and enjoy<br />

some outlet shopping in Lancaster,<br />

visit Dutch Springs Aqua Park, and take<br />

a trip to Knoebels amusement park.<br />

River Riders<br />

June 30 - July 12<br />

Entering Grades: 8-12<br />

Cost: $800<br />

<strong>Girl</strong>s will encounter some serious<br />

adventure with this exciting two-week<br />

trip program. Before leaving camp for<br />

the big trip, girls will raft the Lehigh River,<br />

take a hike on the Appalachian Trail,<br />

explore the low ropes course and climb<br />

the wall. Then when they are ready, they<br />

will travel to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia<br />

where they will whitewater raft, try their<br />

hand at the adventure course and hike.<br />

They will also have time to explore the<br />

National Park and town <strong>of</strong> Harpers Ferry.<br />

Saddle Up<br />

June 30 - July 12<br />

Entering Grades: 6-8<br />

Cost: $750<br />

During this two-week program, you will<br />

have the chance to take a trip out <strong>of</strong><br />

camp to a horse show or the rodeo.<br />

Swamp Thing<br />

What crawls in the mud at camp?<br />

Find out what lives and breathes in<br />

Creek. Spend time at Teardrop Island,<br />

the marshlands at Sweet Arrow Lake.<br />

And if that isn’t enough have your own<br />

dirty run at camp and enjoy some<br />

girl that is not afraid <strong>of</strong> getting dirty!<br />

Art Extravaganza<br />

Painting, sketching and many other art<br />

mediums will fill this imaginative week <strong>of</strong><br />

camp. Recreate a famous masterpiece,<br />

or just use one as inspiration for your<br />

own self expression. Take a trip to the<br />

Philadelphia Art Museum.<br />

Glee<br />

Delve into the world <strong>of</strong> singing, dancing<br />

and acting during your two-week stay.<br />

You will have the chance to visit the<br />

Dutch Apple Theatre, tour backstage<br />

and then enjoy dinner and a show.<br />

During your rehearsal breaks, you’ll<br />

have time for swimming, archery,<br />

and much more. Finish your weeks <strong>of</strong><br />

theatricality with a performance for<br />

the rest <strong>of</strong> camp and your families.<br />

Oh the Places you’ll Go!<br />

During your two-week stay travel to<br />

Williamsburg, Virginia where you will<br />

experience “colonial” life in America.<br />

While in Williamsburg take a side<br />

trip to Busch Gardens and Water<br />

Country USA. Just in case that’s not<br />

enough to do, spend the day at Virginia<br />

Beach walking the boardwalk and<br />

just having fun. While in camp before<br />

your trip enhance your skills on the<br />

low ropes course, the climbing wall<br />

and archery just to name a few.<br />

Take the Reins<br />

If one week <strong>of</strong> riding isn’t enough, come<br />

to camp for two weeks to improve<br />

and get a pr<strong>of</strong>essional manicure.<br />

Give each other facials, manicures,<br />

Hiking Through History<br />

Enjoy hiking and history as you visit two<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Pennsylvania</strong>’s national parks. Take<br />

a one-day visit to Valley Forge in<br />

Iron Chef<br />

own cookbook so you can recreate<br />

your masterpieces at home. Visit a<br />

restaurant and talk with a pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />

arts techniques and tactics from a<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essional instructor, and enjoy a<br />

one-night trip out <strong>of</strong> camp!<br />

Extreme Equestrian<br />

Entering Grades: 6-12<br />

Cost: $410<br />

Experienced riders can join this group<br />

and refine their riding skills for one<br />

extreme week <strong>of</strong> riding. When you are<br />

not at the barn, you will participate in<br />

standard camp activities.<br />

It’s a Mystery<br />

August 4-9<br />

Entering Grades: 7-12<br />

Cost: $395<br />

Want to try something new? Come join<br />

us for a mystery adventure outside<br />

<strong>of</strong> camp! Where you are going is the<br />

mystery* (but we will tell you that you’ll<br />

spend two days out <strong>of</strong> camp). Closer<br />

to your week at camp you will receive<br />

a specific packing list for the trip.<br />
