We are currently recruit<strong>in</strong>g gradu<strong>at</strong>e students for a paid <strong>SCEP</strong> <strong>position</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> Intern<strong>at</strong>ional <strong>Trade</strong><br />

Adm<strong>in</strong>istr<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>US</strong> Commercial Service. I am hop<strong>in</strong>g to circul<strong>at</strong>e <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Description:<br />

Loc<strong>at</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> heart of Wash<strong>in</strong>gton, DC, <strong>the</strong> U.S. Commercial Service (<strong>US</strong>&FCS) Office of<br />

Domestic Oper<strong>at</strong>ions Headquarters is <strong>the</strong> control center for a network of 108 <strong>US</strong> Export<br />

Assistance Centers (<strong>US</strong>EACs) across <strong>the</strong> United St<strong>at</strong>es. The <strong>US</strong>&FCS is <strong>the</strong> “trade promotion<br />

arm” of <strong>the</strong> Department of Commerce’s Intern<strong>at</strong>ional <strong>Trade</strong> Adm<strong>in</strong>istr<strong>at</strong>ion. Via <strong>the</strong> guidance<br />

and resources of <strong>the</strong> <strong>US</strong>&FCS, U.S. companies are able to grow and expand <strong>in</strong> foreign markets.<br />

The <strong>US</strong>&FCS Office of Domestic Oper<strong>at</strong>ions oversees <strong>the</strong> oper<strong>at</strong>ions and activities of <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>US</strong>EACs.<br />

Our office is currently seek<strong>in</strong>g <strong>SCEP</strong> (Student Career Experience Program) candid<strong>at</strong>es. This<br />

<strong>position</strong> is <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> GS-7 level, with full benefits. Candid<strong>at</strong>es must be currently enrolled <strong>in</strong> a<br />

gradu<strong>at</strong>e program on a half time schedule or more, and must be available to work 35-40 hours<br />

per week Monday to Friday. While <strong>the</strong> <strong>SCEP</strong> <strong>position</strong> is temporary, transition to a career<br />

<strong>position</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>US</strong>&FCS Office of Domestic Oper<strong>at</strong>ions is possible (but not guaranteed) after<br />

completion of 640 work hours.

Ability to research, analyze and <strong>in</strong>terpret empirical trade and economic d<strong>at</strong>a and<br />

<strong>in</strong>form<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

Excellent writ<strong>in</strong>g skills and ability to summarize trade d<strong>at</strong>a and <strong>in</strong>form<strong>at</strong>ion clearly<br />

and concisely<br />

Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpo<strong>in</strong>t proficiency<br />

Good work<strong>in</strong>g knowledge of f<strong>in</strong>ancial reports, budgets, and resource alloc<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

model<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Familiarity with event plann<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Some knowledge of market<strong>in</strong>g techniques, particularly via social media<br />

Excellent teamwork and customer service skills<br />

Moder<strong>at</strong>e familiarity with web design<br />

Ability to provide schedul<strong>in</strong>g, travel, meet<strong>in</strong>g prepar<strong>at</strong>ion and personnel support for<br />

management<br />

Familiarity with U.S. Government agency travel and personnel procedures a plus<br />
