Ford Transit Connects
made in Turkey
for the US market
very special ceremony took
A place on 22 May at the port of
Yeniköy to mark the very first shipment
to the United States of America
of a vehicle produced in Turkey:
the Ford Transit Connect which
is made at the Ford Otosan factory.
The Prime Minister of Turkey,
Mr Recep Tayyip Erdogan drove
the first Ford Transit Connect to
be exported to the USA up to the
ramp of the Pure Car Truck Carrier
Grand Benelux, which is deployed
on the EuroAegean Service. Then,
Mr Erdogan handed over the car
to the master of the ship, Captain
Grimaldi is 2008 GM
Supplier of the Year
The Group awarded for the 8 th time in 9 years
Di Gennaro, who drove the car onboard.
The ceremony was also attended,
among others, by Mr Mustafa
Koç, Chairman of Koç Holding,
Mr Zafer Çaglayan, the Minister of
State for Industry and by Mr Cengiz
Kabatepe, Ford Otosan MP&L Assistant
General Manager.
At the 17 th annual awards ceremony
presented on 5 June at
the GM Heritage Center in Warren
(Michigan), the Grimaldi Group was
recognized by General Motors as a 2008
Supplier of the Year for its significant contribution
to GM’s global product and performance
achievements. “General Motors
is proud to honor the Grimaldi Group
with the Supplier of the Year award, an
award that we believe is the most meaningful
honor in the supplier industry”,
said Bo Andersson, GM group vice
president, global purchasing and supply
chain. “During these difficult economic
times, it’s more important than ever to
recognize performance in our supply
base. These suppliers are the best of the
best and we want to honor them for their
tremendous performance”.
“We are extremely honored to receive
this prestigious award from General Motors.
It is the eighth time in the last nine
years and it is the result of our Group’s
hard work and full commitment in meeting
General Motors’ requirements” said
Emanuele Grimaldi, joint-managing
director of the Grimaldi Group. “It is a
further encouragement for us to continue
supplying the best maritime-based logistics
services to General Motors, meeting
their future goals and expectations”.
The GM Supplier of the Year award began
as a global program in 1992 and
recognizes the significant contributions
of General Motors’ suppliers as part of
the company’s global product and performance
