Where Casuarina groves, or Swamp Mahogany forests adjoin
the important wetlands that are indicated on Figure 4, Council
should investigate having such areas incorporated into any
adjoining open space, Nature Reserves, National Park, as
appropriate.
Management of wetland areas shall take into account factors
such as:
i) General impact of development on wetlands.
ii)
iii)
iv)
Impact of neighbouring developments, particularly impacts on
wetland hydrology from drainage channels constructed on
adjoining lands.
Restriction of access to wetland areas particularly with regard
to illegal trail bike and vehicle use.
Maintaining water quality of drainage water entering the
wetland system.
v) Litter impacts.

Organisations involved in land and water use planning and
management in estuaries shall consult and co-operate with
National Parks and Wildlife Service and NSW Fisheries to
ensure that appropriate protection is afforded to wetland,
fisheries and wader habitat. In particular, attention may need
to be given to sites where high levels of disturbance from
people, animals, vehicles or boats adversely affect wetland,
fisheries and wader habitat.

In the event that the Osprey decides to breed in Brisbane
Water, then the NPWS Species Management Plan for
Ospreys, (1992) be invoked in respect to the protection of
nest sites.
