Welcome back to everyone,
especially to Mrs Rich who
has returned safely from her journey
through Asia and to Mrs Sambell
who has spent the holidays
convalescing. We also welcome
Ms Cate Webb to the teaching
team who is replacing Mr Smith on
leave for this term.
Over the holidays, we have
had quite a few maintenance tasks
competed thanks to Mr Loffler and
the students now have a number of
play areas painted for different
games and activities. He has also
rewired part of the tennis courts
and the gymnasium toilet is well
underway. Thanks also to Mr
Whitworth, Cam Colley and the
working bee participants who generously
donated their time over the
holidays to complete the fence surrounding
the agricultural area to
make it more secure and safe for
students within the school.
So many success stories
in the sporting arena over the holidays.
Our gymnastic girls competed
in Mildura on the first weekend
of the holidays and achieved
some excellent results. At level 5,
Annie Charlton and Drew Fraser
both passed level 5 and well done to
Annie for being named overall champion.
The level 4 team achieved a first
and individually Ameilia Rintoule and
Georgia Lowe were both placed in the
top 4. At level 3, again, another first
team placing and Aleisha Rintoule
placed in the top 3 for four of her
events. At level 2, the team obtained
a second and individually Ebony
Rintoule achieved 4 top 3 placings
and lastly, at level 1, Brooklyn Fraser’s
team achieved a first
In the local netball competitions,
well done to the U15A and B
teams for their wins in the Grand Final.
For the Under 15 A final, Caitlyn
Batson was the Best on Court as was
Sam Crick in the B final. Sam also
achieved the Best and Fairest in the
Under 13 Best and Fairest vote count
and was runner up in the U15B as
well. Leah Cother was also runner-up
in the U15A Best and Fairest and
Lauren Smith took out the Award in
the U17’s. Well done also to Josh Batson
for his Runner-up award in the
U17 Best and Fairest count. In an entirely
different league of netball, we
also have Renee McCuish playing in
a Premiership with Harrow Balmoral
Under 17’s. Well done to all of our
students who participate in their
weekly sports.
Great to see many of our
students enter the Goroke Show in
a number of areas including horseriding,
cooking, art, craft photography,
animals and, of course, Miss
Showgirl. Congratulations to those
who managed to take home some
prizes on the day and there were
some great photos of our students
in the Mail Times.
We also have the results
back from the English Competition
which a number of students participated
in several months ago. Well
done to Emma Hausler who
achieved a distinction for her effort
and Jordan Smith, Nikiesha Perez
and Abby Walter for their Credits. A
great achievement. We have sent
home a letter home with results this
year to see if families are still interested
in being involved in the competitions.
We have noted a drop of
participation and have asked parents
to respond back to the school
whether they would like them to
continue. Could parents please organise
for their response to be returned
to school as soon as possible.

Principal’s Report Continued
Last week, 2 of our Advance Police
Youth Corps students attended the Police Remembrance
Day in Horsham to assist with the
ceremony. Thank you to Sean Maybery and
Sam Crick for giving some of their holiday time
to such a worthy cause.
Attached to this week’s newsletter is
a Departmental brochure about attendance
at school. We occasionally have cause for
concern about the number of absences
some students accumulate and would like
to make all parents aware of the benefits of
regular attendance at school. Over a year,
school takes up only 40 weeks. To miss 10
days or more is starting to impact on your
child’s learning. Please contact the school if
your child is going to be absent for an extended
time and we can organise for some
work to be sent home for your child.
It is fourth term and time to put
broad brims on again in the school
yard. Please be aware that if your child
does not wear a broad brimmed hat at
school, they will be limited to undercover
areas only for recess and lunchtime.
Students have been excellent to
date at ensuring that they remain sunsafe.

Wimmera Primary Zone Athletics
These sports were held at Horsham on Tuesday and brought together students
from the primary schools in Horsham, Dunmunkle, Horsham rural, North Central,
Southern Mallee, West Wimmera and Kowree districts. Goroke had twelve students
in the Kowree team from the 10, 11 and 12 years age groups. Below is a list of
the students, their events and some of the better results, which they all
competed in very well as they often came up against students who are members
of little athletics.

got to school I found out that it was on! I was
really happy.

finished I went to the hall. I helped set up the
sweets stall and I helped add up the money and
