Lachlan 12th September - Goroke P-12 College

This week we had a visit from 30 Principals, Assistant Principals and teachers
who are involved in the Instructional Rounds process. This process involves
classroom observations to help identify strengths within the school and also offer
ideas to the school for a future direction for professional development within the
school. Some excellent feedback from the visitors about the tone of the school
and the positive and challenging learning environment that we provide. A
number of schools in the Wimmera have become involved in this very valuable
opportunity and it has certainly given us a few ideas to follow up with over the
next few years. Thank you to the teachers who opened up their classrooms for
observation, to Coralie for the impressive catering and Rachel Hovey who
assisted in the office.
Thank you to Grady Charlton who did an individual presentation on his stay at
the John Monash Science School this year. Grady had the opportunity to be
involved in a nano-technology project whilst he was away and he was able to
give a brief rundown of what life was like at a specialist science school in
Melbourne.
Ms Cate Webb will be away on leave for the next couple of weeks whilst
she does some cycle touring in Europe. We wish her well and happy cycling. Mr
Lay will be returning to help replace a number of her classes and it is always
good to have him back on staff, even though it is temporarily.
Grade 3 and 4 are off on their trip to Swan Hill this week. A number of excited
youngsters were keen to head off on their camp on Wednesday and we hope
they have a great camp visiting the Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement.
