Culture<br />

We realise how important both the individual and the atmosphere are in the daily rhythm of the<br />

Company. That is why stimulating creativity, improving the quality of mutual relations, and following<br />

novelties using soft methods of management have become part of our corporate culture. The <strong>Gorenje</strong><br />

Cultural Society is responsible for expanding values and trends in lifestyle culture in the broadest<br />

sense, and also organises art exhibitions, various forms of amateur creative activities and cultural<br />

events in the company, as well as visits to superior cultural events throughout Slovenia and Europe.<br />

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY<br />

<strong>Gorenje</strong> has a tradition lasting several decades in the area of socially responsible conduct. Initially, its<br />

activities were focused on employees and the local environment. Over the years, these were expanded<br />

to include other stakeholders. Today, the philosophy of socially responsible conduct is an inseparable<br />

part of <strong>Gorenje</strong>'s successful business operation.<br />

By means of a selective choice of donations and sponsorships, the Company organised in <strong>2009</strong><br />

several events of significance for employees and the broader environment in the fields of culture,<br />

sports, education and heath care. Compared to previous years, however, their number was reduced<br />

and the funds allocated to societies, clubs and institutions with which <strong>Gorenje</strong> has been closely<br />

cooperating for many years. The amount of funds allocated for sponsorships and donations was<br />

slightly higher than in 2008 because, as the general sponsor of the <strong>Gorenje</strong> Velenje Handball Club, the<br />

Company wished to provide the best conditions for the team's participation in the European Champions<br />

League. <strong>Gorenje</strong> has for several years also maintained a partnership with the Slovenian Nordic Ski<br />

Team, which operates within the Ski Association of Slovenia.<br />

The Company supports the <strong>Gorenje</strong> Pension Club, which through its activities is improving the quality<br />

of leisure time of our former employees.<br />

ENVIRONMENT (ECOLOGY)<br />

In line with the principles of sustainable development, the <strong>Gorenje</strong> <strong>Group</strong> devotes a great deal of<br />

attention to environmental protection. By regularly modernising our technological processes and<br />

equipment, we are implementing the <strong>Group</strong>'s environmental policy.<br />

The long-term goals of environmental protection of the <strong>Gorenje</strong> <strong>Group</strong> (2006-2010) have directed the<br />

Company's attention primarily towards reducing quantities of wastes and the consumption of energy<br />

products and water, introduced requirements in the area of limiting hazardous substances in products,<br />

reducing quantities of waste industrial packaging, and the fulfilment of requirements regarding the<br />

decomposition of electrical and electronic equipment.<br />

All environmental aspects of the Company were systematically brought in line with the ISO 14001<br />

standard acquired in 2000, and then upgraded by their entry in the European register EMAS in 2004.<br />

The <strong>Gorenje</strong> <strong>Group</strong> meets all the legally prescribed values relating to emissions into the environment,<br />

and has obtained all relevant environmental permits. We are systematically introducing both<br />

environment-friendly and economically efficient technologies. By introducing changes in technological<br />

procedures and implementing cleaner technologies, we are reducing the Company's impacts on the<br />

environment. The Company's environmental orientation, which alongside changes in technologies also<br />

includes reducing the impacts of end products on the environment, is seen as an important market<br />

advantage.<br />
