A tribute to the Cuban star Rosita Fornés,
with a gala ceremony that will include the
performances of operatic singers María
Eugenia Barrios and Milagros de los
Ángeles, young talents of the National
Lyrical Opera, vedette Maylú, singer
Lourdes Torres, the Lizt Alfonso Ballet and
dancers from the Anfiteatro de La
Habana, among other artists, who will sing
a selection of operettas and zarzuelas
which were hits in the voice of Rosita
Fornés: La viuda alegre, La casta Susana,
La Generala, El conde de Luxemburgo, La
boda de Luis Alonso, Las musas latinas,
Doña Francisquita, Las Leandras and La
verbena de La Paloma.

Dedicated to commemorate the
anniversary of the death of the first
Cuban musician of whom there is record
of printed scores, every year the Esteban
Salas Early Music Festival gathers
outstanding performers of Medieval,
Renaissance and Baroque music who
perform in Old Havana headed by the Ars
Longa Music Ensemble. This festival has
made it possible for audiences to enjoy
for the first time in Cuba important pieces
of the universal repertory, such as the
madrigalian comedy “Festino” by the
Italian composer Adriano Banchieri and
Handel’s “Messiah.”
