In Rainer Warner Fassbinder’s comedy
(under the direction of Carlos Díaz with
Teatro El Público company), a young man
who is looking for an apartment where he
plans to live with his girlfriend after their
wedding, is intercepted by a mature man,
a manipulator of emotions, who the young
man falls passionately in love with. The
presence of the girlfriend and an ex-lover
of the mature man give rise to serious
conflicts. Díaz has chosen to make a
reading of the play more from the
domination/submission relationship
rather than from the twists and turns of
homosexuality.

multifaceted talent, playing the roles of
several of his most popular characters,
with funny and thought-provoking
monologues, songs and jokes.
Delirio Habanero by Cuban playwright
Alberto Pedro. Three delirious
characters who believe they are Varilla (a
former waiter at La Bodeguita del Medio
Restaurant), and famous singers Benny
Moré and Celia Cruz, meet every
evening at a run-down building to recall
a long gone Havana, or to plan a future
that will never be. This production by
Teatro de La Luna has earned the
director and the three actors numerous
prizes.
Ay, mi amor monologue written by
Norge Espinosa, with the magnificent
performance of the young actor Lester
Martínez. Based on the memories of the
late actor Adolfo Llauradó, as taped by
his wife, who in that intimate milieu
gives details of his hectic private life.
The play has received important prizes
from specialized Cuban critics.

play focuses on a self-employed worker-
-Yara La China not only organizes
excursions payable both in Cuban pesos
and Convertible pesos, she also advices
her potential customers on how to
recover the investment, which gives rise
to a stark, ironic look into current
pressing economic and ethical problems
that Cubans face today.
Rapsodia para el mulo Nelda Castillo,
director of El Ciervo Encantado, who
sought inspiration for her play in the
poem of the same name by José Lezama
Lima, to express, with complex
symbolism, the difficult struggle to save
the remains of the past and survive in
the harshness of the present.
