Len Lindsay's Atari Basic Cardss are simply that. . .a
comprehensive heavy-paper pe r booklet covering the
commands and syntax off Atari BASIC. . The preliminary
copy I read was a handy size, 414" J;4. " by II 11" " with
four commands per page. The back of each page is left
blank a so the useru may jot j in his or her own helpful
hints. The command sections are identical in size
a nd a re arranged so you can cul them OU1 , if you pre
and are arranged so you can cut them out, if you pre
fer, , and use a small a card filee forr reference.
Each comma nd is presented with syntax, an
Each command is presented with syntax, an
example of useu and brief definition. Best of all for
beginners— beginners- and aren't we all at this point— point- is the
"see also" cross reference presented with most of
the commands.
the commands.
Although the booklet isn't ' t typeset, the reproduced
printer output is extremely clear and easy to
rcad. At $4.95 (approxima tely) Ata ri Basic Cards is a
read. At $4.95 (approximately) Atari Basic Cards is a
recommended addition to the small (but growing)
amount of Atari information available.
I haven't time this issue to give a real review of Mailing
List, but felt it was important enough to comment on. .
Richard a Daley is adopting a style of programming thai a t
I think is impon important. His mailing ing list program is designed
so we, the users, have a great deal to say in
structuring our files aand defining ng how we want our
data base to look. You can definee your own sort keys,
pull out subsets, etc. We e are currently using g it, , with
some in-house output modifications, to maintain our
whole dealer data baseb on a 32K CCBM with attached
disk drives and NEC Spinwriter.
I asked Joretta j Klepfer r to look over mym y comments
and here are hers:
You might add thatt it is easy to do editing,
updating, u maintenance a nce aand back-up of data files.
You can store an output format file on disk.
Even more, you can create your own format of
Even more, you can create your own format of
the data for printing.
Okay. Thanks, Jo. } We'll 'lIlookJorward look forward 10 to your review ©
next time. .
