Steve Rhee has worked over the past 15 years as a researcher and
practitioner of international development to improve evidence-based policy
and practice, particularly as it relates to natural resource management. He
has worked with a range of stakeholders, from forest-dependent villagers
in Borneo to international donors, and has worked closely with CIFOR
since 1999. He has lived and worked in Indonesia, mainland Southeast
Asia, Timor Leste and Nepal. He received his doctorate from Yale,
where his training focused on governance, trade and culture related to
sustainable development. He is currently an American Association for the
Advancement of Science (AAAS) Science and Technology Policy Fellow
at the U.S. Department of State.
Made Sudana worked for CIFOR from 1999 to 2004, based in Malinau
Subprovince of East Kalimantan. He participated in the ACM project and
has also worked in research about conflict and power among stakeholders
related to community forestry, timber and mining companies, and local
government in Malinau and Manggarai Subprovince of East Nusa Tenggara.
He currently works for the Indonesian-German Development Cooperation
on Rural Water Supply in Sumba.
Eva (Lini) Wollenberg is a social scientist with a longstanding
commitment to the empowerment of local communities. Lini received her
Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and has subsequently
worked with the Ford Foundation and as a senior scientist with CIFOR,
leading research in the tropical forests of Asia, especially in Kalimantan
(Borneo). She is a Senior Associate of CIFOR and currently Director of
Sustainable Agriculture at the University of Vermont, United States.
