6.8 (2 and 3) The isolation of the village
is evident from this viewpoint. The
vista across agricultural land towards
trees and buildings in the distance
all compound the rural setting of the
Conservation Area.
6.10 (5) From the Wessex Way vehicle
passengers can catch glimpses of
the church and farm buildings to the
south-eastern edge of the village. This
viewpoint again shows the buildings
in their isolated setting. This vantage
point also affords night time glimpses
of the gentle glow of the gas lamps.

Wessex Way (A338)
6.9 (4) The topography of the area is
relatively flat and there are no
elevated viewpoints into the village
other than from the footbridge
over the Wessex Way. From here, a
panorama of the village is possible,
showing the layout of the eastern part
of the village. The view also enables an
appreciation of the isolation between
the east and west residential clusters
of buildings, and reinforces the context
of the buildings amongst the farmland.
