b. Personal Wellness Profile Assessment female participants should use the maximum<br />

push-up test in the modified position. The modified push up is performed on the<br />

hands and knees with the back straight and hands slightly in front of the shoulders in<br />

the up position. Continue the test until fatigue or until proper form can no longer be<br />

maintained. No resting is allowed.<br />

2. Required Equipment:<br />

a. Gym mat, or suitable flooring.<br />

b. Stop watch or timing device.<br />

3. <strong>Test</strong> Administration:<br />

a. Have the member place his/her hands slightly wider than shoulder width apart, with<br />

fingers pointing forward.<br />

b. Starting from the up position (elbows extended), the subject must keep the back<br />

straight at all times and lower the body to the floor until the upper arms are at a 90<br />

degree angle.<br />

c. Subject then returns to the starting position. This is one repetition.<br />

d. Resting can only be done in the up position. Both hands must remain in contact with<br />

the floor at all times. Exception: the push-up test protocol for the PWP does not allow<br />

any resting and does not have a time limit. The test is terminated when the participant<br />

can no longer maintain proper form or until fatigue.<br />

e. The total number of correct pushups completed is recorded as the score.<br />
