Awaken the Senses: OluKai Presents Spring/Summer 2014 Women’s Collection
June 18, 2013, Orange County, CA-- Echoing the colors and flavors of Hawaii, OluKai proudly launches its women’s
spring/summer ’14 collection, bringing everyone home to the islands. Overarching new product influences include
a vibrant, Shave Ice collection; sleek, low profile feminine silhouettes; and rich local artisan accents.
A standout to this year’s collection comes from inspiration from the little moments that create the texture of an
unforgettable journey on the Islands. A bursting tropical color palette reflects the refreshing exotic joy of Hawaiian
shave ice shared on a hot day. The Shave Ice collection consists of vibrant new color additions to ‘Ohana and
Kulapa Kai. Reflecting cool island flavors, new colorways include Punch, Plum, Tiger’s Blood, Mint, Sour Tart,
Lemon, and many more.
With sleek, low profile feminine silhouettes, new sandal styles such as the Komohana, Hikina, Hema, Noho Lio
feature hand-detailed leather, intricate laser cut designs, and hand-stained Hawaiian flora-inspired patterns.
Elastic straps offer a customized fit while full-grain leather wrapped outsoles gives these styles high character,
without sacrificing comfort for sophisticated style.
Through its handcrafted design principles and native artisanship, local artisan-inspired design details make
delicate and beautiful statements throughout this season’s collection. Continuing the brand’s partnership with local
Hawaiian artist Emma Howard, OluKai introduces the Nohea Canvas Print, Heleuma Mesh and Nohea Mesh to
the Drop-In Heel Collection. All three closed-toe styles feature boldly printed original hand-painted artwork
inspired by endemic florals found in Maui Cultural Lands.
Each OluKai style is built on its design philosophy of “Fit by Nature, Crafted by Hand” and “Wet Sand Principle”
which is the moment when a bare foot sinks slowly into wet sand and all at once, it cups the heels and fills the arch.

The spring/summer ‘14 collection features eighteen new styles as well as color updates on carryover styles from

Highlights from the spring/summer ‘14 collection include:
‘OHANA (Translation: Family): MSRP $65
Nothing quite captures the refreshing, exotic joy of the islands like a ball of Hawaiian
shave ice drenched in a rainbow of tropical colors. Taking this shared tradition as our
seasonal inspiration, the ‘Ohana perfectly exemplifies these vibrant flavors. New two-tonal color ways include:
Plum, Tiger’s Blood, Passion Orange, Tropical, Lemon, Punch and Sour Tart.
HIKINA (Translation: East): MSRP $150
Available in ginger and night, the Hikina features vegetable tanned leather lined with pig

PAHILI HIBISCUS (Translation: To Braid): MSRP $100
With a distinct toe-loop feature, the Pahili Habiscus features premium full-grain leather,
hand stitching and hand-stained Hibiscus pattern inspired by native Paniolo sandals,
anatomical compression-molded EVA midsole fully lined with soft synthetic leather.
NOHEA CANVAS PRINT (Translation: Pretty): MSRP $90
With a boldly printed original hand-painted artwork exterior of native flowers from
Hawaiian artist Emma Howard, who creates one-of-a-kind cultural motifs, the Nohea
Canvas Print is an all day versatile silhouette with an artisanal twist. Features include
